turbotaina
I may have missed this somewhere, but how old is Murphy? I'd lean more towards a tendon strain or a possible hairline fracture than cancer if the dog is young. Not to say it can't happen, just not as likely. Sending you good thoughts. Murphy is our middle-aged baby; she's 6! Hopefully we'll find out today what's up. Thank you all so much for the prayers and support! I'd heard about how amazing greyhound people are before we adopted, but wow! Blown away!

Guest MurphysMom
IT IS NOT CANCER! Murphy has a minor fracture in her leg that should heal up very quickly, without a cast! Hubs and I will need to carry her up and down the stairs (I'm glad we didn't adopt a ginormous greyhound), and keep her on a leash while she does her duties outside. No more walkies, at least until after we get the follow up X-rays in two weeks! Thank you all so much for the prayers and good thoughts and wonderful words!!! I'm so so so relieved that she will be with us for many more years (God willing)! MP_the4pack
Did she do something that would have caused enough stress to fracture the bone? I hate to be a Debbie Downer, but there are have been several instances on this board where there was a fracture "not cancer" when it actually was. Did a radiologist or oncologist read the film? I really hope you are correct!

I'll have our vet look at it as well (the vet who did the X-rays is the rescue's vet)
NeedlenoseJake
No cancer is good news!!! As lazy as these dogs are, it is a pain to keep them on a rest regimen when they get it in their head to be crazy. Good luck! GeorgeofNE
I second having a specialist review the films. It's pretty unusual for a healthy 6 year old to break ankle doing nothing in particular. Remolacha
I am thrilled they "only" found a fracture, but having just been through the nightmare of a missed cancer diagnosis, for my own peace of mind I would have the x-rays reviewed by a specialist. If the vet that did the x-rays is your group's vet, he should be familiar with what osteo looks like in greys, so you are probably fine, but like I said, for my own peace of mind...
