macoduck Posted May 14, 2012 Share Posted May 14, 2012 After Niña and then LIttle Dude the IG left us, I've missed having a tiny dog to cuddle with. Simon visits us often but I still found myself looking at Petfinder. And then one day, there she was. Tessa, originally a puppy mill purchase who ended up living on a back porch all her life. Had one litter of puppies and was spayed at 8. She's now 10. The owner wanted to get rid of all her iggies and a rescue in Georgia stepped up even though they were swamped. Mid-Atlantic IG Rescue offered to take them in and find homes. Tessa's puppies (they were approx. 3 years old actually) found homes, but not Tessa. She needed extensive dental care. All but her 2 lower canine teeth removed last month. The upper canines had rotted and were destroying the bone above her palate. In her loving foster home Tessa recovered from her oral surgery. She's here with the Macoduck crew as of today. May I present, Tessa: Wondering how she already paid it forward? On my application I listed an IG rescue woman in a nearby town who I have helped transport iggies and bail them out of local shelters. She had 12 iggies at her house (6 of her own + 2 who are too difficult to place so they'll stay with her). Mid-Atlantic IG rescue offered to take the other 4. Foster homes were found immediately if I could transport them to Virginia Beach when I came up to get Tessa. Tessa is happy and healthy and the 4 I delivered are healthy and happy on their way to new homes.
