calif_chaz Posted April 3, 2012 Share Posted April 3, 2012 I am in such shock that I have lost maggie. She was 10 1/2, super healthy and active, always bouncing around. this morning breakfast as usual, maybe 1 1/2 hr later she was panting a little. seemed a little restless so i made vet appt for this afternoon. she went out to potty and one hind quarter was really shaking as she squatted. came in and laid down, got up and the whole hind quarters shaking so bad she almost collapsed. She went over to one of the dog beds, laid down flat out on her side. a few minutes later she gave a couple of long howls, I ran over and she was not breathing. she was just gone. I am at a loss as to what happend but seems like maybe a clot? I am just devasted~she was my velcro girl and walking buddy. Has anyone had something like these symptoms happen? jaym1 Posted April 3, 2012 Share Posted April 3, 2012 sorry to hear this. this is pretty much how my first dog died. we assumed it was a clot. he had just had a tooth extracted, and we think they must have been related. on the brighter side of this sad event, she never had to experience the slow and sometimes painful decline into old age that so many dogs go through. almost no suffering after a long and happy retirement thanks to the home you gave her, and her last days sounds like it was a happy one. I know how it is like having a knife twisted in your heart and your mind just gone crazy when they so suddenly leave when just moments before they were A-OK. Just try and hang in there and remember you can't see anything clearly when your eyes are so blurred with tears. You are in my prayers. All I can say is that even though it is a shock, thank goodness you were there and she did not suffer.
