  1. Jerilyn and I apparently get our dogs from the same batch o' weirdos, because none of my three have ever tried the furniture either. A few days ago I even put Doolin's front legs on the outdoor couch on our porch, and he hopped the rest of the way up and then immediately back down. You never know!
  2. We did not try them with Sweep, but when our newbie Willa went through a "the floors are lava" phase after a slip, we used Dr. Buzby's toe grips and they worked well. They're a pain to get on, but once they're on, they stay on quite well (and that's with a 4-year-old, so I'm sure they'd do even better for a 9-year-old tripod). Please keep us posted on Skip's progress!
  3. Jingles made of chocolate, because I'm sure you could use some of that too. (Also: yay for just a lipoma!)
  4. Yes, we had a very similar experience with Sweep. She was 11 when she had her amp, so it coincided with some age-related hind end weakness, and she became much more timid about getting around in general. We actually purchased her a 16-foot runner from Overstock so she could have her "runway" to and from the back door. She basically stayed in our living room for her last 7–8 months, which was sad for us (she didn't supervise meal prep or join me in my office anymore) but didn't seem to bother her one bit. She played musical beds and had her old lady zoomies outside. She was never in any pain that we could tell; we let her go 15 months after diagnosis due to lung mets.
  5. What they said. I have newbies too (6 and 9 months off the track) and since we're still working on training, an "unh unh" is often sufficient.
  6. AnnIE, you've got this! Get home riteawaykwik so you can spend the weekend being spoiled by your sister and momma.
  7. @MercsmomMiss Elizabeth, I just noticed on the race card that Jupiter was in Doolin's race too! He's in black with the yellow #5. Plusalso Doolin and Willa's brother Desperado is #2 in light blue.
  8. Not at all uncommon right off the track. Keep up the fish oils and brush her regularly, and it should improve. An oatmeal-based shampoo could also help. And not to scare you, but you might want to rethink the grain-free kibble, as it's been associated with heart issues in some dogs: https://www.fda.gov/animal-veterinary/outbreaks-and-advisories/fda-investigation-potential-link-between-certain-diets-and-canine-dilated-cardiomyopathy.
  9. Ooh, cool! I hope he doesn't mind my posting these (I was sure to make the album private on Flickr). I am so thrilled to have found them.
  10. I meant to share these a while back but never got around to it. First, disclaimer: these are not my pics, so full credit goes to the photographer, whose watermark appears on all of them. I noticed it on some photos that Doolin and Willa's adoption group had posted on Greyhound Data and went digging on Facebook, et voila! I found lots of really cool photos from their Southland races. Here are a few favorites: Willa: Doolin: And the retired life:
  11. He wrote me from this one when we were in touch about Sweep: guilledvm@gmail.com
  12. About like it did for Buddy and Guinness! Mostly serving bolster duty.
  13. Excellent werk, Wiki! Mine aren't fans, but it doesn't come out that often...
  14. Congrats—and good luck with the toe woes!
  15. Is that what's known as a Punkin pie? (Thankfully knot. )
  16. Same here! I think Willa got to wear her housecoat twice this "winter." Mark and LaVida look très chic!
