  7. I thought of this thread this morning when Nutmeg carefully left her mark on a tussock of grass by the side of the path in the forest.
  8. Are you shutting the door on him? I expect he is used to going from his kennel out into a run and coming back inside when he wants.
  9. I have never understood why several of my whippets would “do their doody” on stinging nettles! Ouch! Nutmeg is a walking pooper, usually from one end of the garden to the other, criss crossing on the way. Many a morning I think i’ve cleaned it all up only to find some on my shoe when I take them off indoors.
  10. They could well be racing greyhounds kept in kennels just as any US greyhounds would be, only over here they may well be kept by individual owners at their home rather than large racing kennels.
  11. Mine will sometimes eat a lot of grass and later throw up the lot along with yellow bile but at the moment they are both just grazing as we walk along.
  12. Don’t forget to give her a verbal signal when she goes to the toilet, you can make it as graphic or subtle as you like! I tell mine to “Go and do a wee” but many other friends use more polite words or phrases. Use it every time she is doing what you want, just as you would give her a treat when she’s doing any other action, then she will associate that action with those/that word.
  13. Ha Pee Birfday Ruby, howp yu havva greyt day. Wagz frum Chancey and Nutmeg.
  14. If your greyhounds are retired racers the high pitched barking of the spaniel would have been enough to arouse them. Have you ever been to a greyhound race meeting? The dogs in the traps are screaming with excitement as they hear the lure coming round the track. I kept my Chancey muzzled for over two years before she calmed down enough for me to trust her around other dogs but even now I am very careful about letting her close to them, preferring to stand at the side of the path to let them pass by. There is one little terrier in my neighbourhood that is guaranteed to wind her up with it’s high pitched barking and the stupid owners still let it off the lead in our vicinity despite knowing what she is like. She had been quite good about it for a while but a few weeks ago it did just enough that she was trying to get to it again. Luckily I had both of mine on short leads and could walk them away. Your dogs will be fine wearing muzzles, they were used to wearing them on turn outs at the kennels and on the race track. I bought a pink one for Chancey so that she didn’t look dangerous or menacing.
  15. Well dun Sid! Wagz frum Chancey and Nuttymeg.
  16. Some locals collect the poop from their garden in bags (I have had biodegradable ones too) and drop them off into the general dog waste bins that the Council provide in dog walking areas. You can use a wormery for animal waste as long as you don’t use the resulting compost on food plants. https://www.originalorganics.co.uk/wormeries/pet-dog-poo-wormeries No doubt there are US suppliers.
  17. Two beautiful faces, enjoy your Gotcha Days girls.
