  1. Even when you know that you have made the right decision it takes time to come to terms with with it all. Thinking of you at this difficult time. Carol (Of Reel England).
  2. You made the right decision for Zero and that is the most important thing any owner can do for their hound, even though it breaks our heart. Thinking of you. Carol.
  3. When we can no longer control the pain then we have to do what is right, no matter how much it hurts our heart. You know you did the right thing for Sam & what a way to go, sausage, egg & cheese biscuits then falling asleep with the one you love beside you. No houndie could ask for more. Thinking of you. Carol.
  4. I have had four whippets and all had their dewclaws removed as very young puppies except for Banjo, who had just one removed, his breeder missed one. He manages to tear the nail out at least once a year, sometimes without too much bother but several times it has involved a visit to the vet and a light anaesthetic to cut it off. It has been suggested that it be removed surgically but I think that is too major surgery for me to contemplate if we can get away without it. I am always amazed when I see the size of some greyhounds' dew claws.
  5. You did the right thing for your handsome boy and no hound could want for more, a loving owner to help them on their way when the time is right, and from his own home too. Thinking of you at this time. Carol.
  6. Plummer's final run to the post is done, his Mum's task is to carry on but with happy memories in her heart! Plummer you're the winner, enjoy the fields and flowers over there!

    Its Been A Week

Michelle, I have only just found this and on reading through, the reply by JerseyGirl is virtually the answer I was going to write. You loved Lyndsey as a Mother would love her baby, even if she was treated as a dog, and the shock alone of her turning on you like that is great, without the stress and heartbreak of having to make & take that final decision. Sadly, I have to say that i think it WAS the right decision, no matter what the reason for her bad temper she was too big and strong to risk anything like that happening again, possibly with more serious consequences for you or your family. Whilst it will take more than a little while for you to recover from these events I hope that in time you will be able to remember her as the beautiful girl that she was. Thinking of you, Carol.
