  1. Way to go Sweep! You are a beautiful girl and remind me of my dear Lila, who was often made to dress up like a babushka.
  2. Oh, you have to leash walk. That makes it a lot harder than just shoving them out in the yard and shutting the door.
  3. I've not had that problem, Lila would just run out to do the necessary and Wiki is unbothered by any kind of weather. But a lady I knew had a foster who would only poop in his own backyard. They had a cottage up north they went to regularly and he wouldn't poop on a leash. They fenced in a turn out yard for him and he still wouldn't go. She drove him back home after three days so he could go.
  4. Happy 12th birthday to the fabulous Sweep! I am so glad she's doing well and being well spoiled. I think the pedicure picture looks like the service is just not up to her standards.
  5. Yes, I get them from Marshalls or TJ Maxx. I was hoping you found a more reliable source.
  6. Congratulations! He is very handsome and it sounds like he's settling in very well. That dog bed in the second picture, those are the best beds! Where did you get it?
  7. Wiki ate a raw carrot for the first time tonight. Sliced thin on the bias made it more palatable. Try a raw cranberry. My last greyhound would eat them, but I found that very odd.
  8. I'm no help, I've got a jumper now too. Wiki gets crazy before the leash gets on though. I've done all the normal things, nothing works. I think we are doomed, it is a Wisconsin tradition. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ac2s7EoMwAc
  9. Greyhounds are generally sleepy dogs. The first night with my first houdie was a bit unsettled because she did not want to sleep in my bedroom where I wanted her to sleep. Once I gave up and let her stay in the living room where she wanted to be, she was fine and there were no issues with it. Wiki is more of a velcro hound and the first night I just went to my bedroom and she followed me and went right to the dog bed I had in there and stayed there all night. Most of the time if they can be near you, they are fine.
  10. Not taking a treat from a stranger or in a strange place is not unusual. Maybe put one on the ground to see if he'll take it that way. My approach is just to take it easy in the early days. Be calm and show him that you're not worried about things and he'll feel the same way. Just let him hang out and get used to you and your home and routine. It's all new to him, it will take a little while for him to feel comfortable.
  11. He doesn't know you and is probably a little unsure of things. It's nice that he seems to be looking to you for guidance or reassurance. I don't think it's anything to worry about. It will likely change once he becomes more comfortable with you and his surroundings. Congratulations on adopting your new friend!
  12. I've never seen a turkey tendon. But I did give Wiki a dried cod skin yesterday. I thought it would be a quick crunchy treat but it was more like rawhide and took her about 30 minutes to chew and consume. No ill effects on the dog but my house smelled like a cannery and I had to wash her face, legs, and blanket.
  13. How scary for both of you! I hope she heals up quickly and easily. And that she learned her lesson. The first time Wiki chased a rabbit in the yard she crashed into the fence. Luckily it was just chain link and had some give or we would have been in a similar situation. The urge to chase is strong!
  14. Oh, don't worry, the artist received multiple payments to keep her engaged with the work.
  15. I’m part of an organization that does fundraising for various conservation projects and someone thought of these paint with your pet kits. Wiki and I tested one out. Prepare your palette. Wake up the artist. Find your inspiration (peanut butter ) and begin. Mmmmm, art is tasty. Just a little more over here. It is complete! Don’t forget to sign your work.
  16. That sounds like a pretty good situation to bring a dog to work. But lots and lots of dogs spend all day home alone and are just fine too. You'll probably have to wait and see what works best for your particular dog.
  17. Oh Jan, I'm so sorry to see this! Aiden was such a good camper and you gave him such a great life! He will be missed by many.
