  1. I love hearing what all the houndies think of carrots! Wiki was begging when I was making a salad the other day so I gave her a Romaine lettuce stem, the big, hard, white, tasteless part thinking she'd spit it out and go away. Nope, chomped that thing right up and asked for more again and again! She's a weirdo!
  2. I want this! This is horrible! Why did you give me this? *****Shocking Update***** I was again eating carrots and cauliflower when I had to run outside to put the patio umbrella down due to a storm. I was gone for no more than a minute. When I came back in, the Black Bandit was eating my veggies. Including the carrots! Apparently stolen carrots are different, and delicious. This girl keeps my on my toes, and I love it.
  3. I think most family pet dogs have not had proper socialization and/or training. Our greyhounds excel in dog commutation due to the way they are raised around lots of dogs and people. So it’s them, not you. I do make a point of praising Wiki loudly for being calm and ignoring the other dog that is going crazy. That said, I think there is something about the shape and style of greyhounds that confuses or worries other breeds. The low-set tail and ears pinned back as a default could be read as fear or aggression by another dog. There is a dog in my neighborhood that went full on Cujo as Wiki and I walked past just minding our own business. I seriously thought it was going to attack us and Wiki did too. My neighbors who walk other breeds of dogs all love this Cujo and say he’s nothing but sweet. Starry sounds lovely. Keep doing what you're doing and tell him he's a good boy.
  4. Great progress! And wonderful communication with your dog!
  5. I don't have any good advice, but Sunita sounds so much like my dear departed Lila! Gotta love those demanding princess girls!
  6. Maybe you have the rare protective greyhound, and if that's the case it's not so unusual. He's feeling like this is his home and you're his people, which is good. So when you're not there he feels like he has to step up to protect the place from "intruders" even if he's met them nicely before. How long are you gone for? Maybe he doesn't need to be let out during the day. 8 hours is pretty normal for these guys to go with out a potty break.
  7. I haven't had to wipe Wiki's bum yet but Lila had that reaction. It seemed like a "hey, that's private, get out of there" reaction.
  8. You're on the right track with feeding less and walking at night. When I got my Wiki she was pooping like a horse. The food she was on had a lot of fiber, including beet pulp, and it was just too much for her. I changed her to a lower fiber food and it got better.
  9. Congratulations to all of you! She's not very modest, is she?
  10. Maybe try a couple things to see what he likes. Maybe I've got weirdos, but my dogs have never really like the original Kongs. I think they are too difficult. Wiki will lick off the "easy" stuff, but gives up trying to get anything too far down in the hole. She loves this Kong bone though - https://www.chewy.com/kong-quest-bone-dog-toy-color-varies/dp/51555. And also those bones you can get with filling then refill, something like this - https://www.chewy.com/barkworthies-shin-bone-stuffed/dp/171746. None of these things will last all day though, they really just take minutes for the dog to finish. You say you are leaving him for the day, have you left him for shorter periods at all?
  11. She has enough parts that it seems possible, but we just couldn't make it happen.
  12. Hmmm, let me try something with her legs.....
  13. I thought I was so clever to notice that, but you beat me too it! Such a pretty Sweep.
  14. Based on the timing, it sounds like he knows the routine and is excited for his walks. Maybe a chew bone or puzzle toy to keep him amused during those times?
  15. Ah, the Tasmanian tiger! There is a statue of one at the zoo I volunteer at. It gets a lot of attention since it's such a strange looking creature. I suppose it is stripey.....
  16. How very scary for all of you! I hope Petunia is home enjoying french fries soon. Broodies are tough. Returning Sadie Rose could not have been easy, but it was the right decision. She'll find her right place.
  17. I'm so glad to hear she's eating, that alone will make her feel so much better! My Wiki just got confirmation that the first round of "easy" treatment didn't work (no surprise) so we're right there with you starting Dr Ng's protocol.
