TheFullHouse
Well after battling high blood pressure, fluid retention and genetic kidney disease for the last 3 months, we finally made progress. The last time I posted it was to ask about a home made kidney diet. Bullitt loves it so once a week I make up a weeks worth of meals for him. I didn't take any pictures when he was at his worst. He didn't even look like a greyhound at that point and I truly thought we were going to lose him. Here are some pictures of him during his battle. He looked pregnant at this point. We finally started making a little progress. He went up to 90lbs. From his normally svelt 70lbs. Once we started getting his blood pressure under control he started absorbing fluid at a greater rate but it also dropped down to his feet and legs. You can see the swelling here. Finally two weeks ago he finally dropped back down to his normal weight and all the swelling is gone. He is on two blood pressure meds, one mild dieuretic, Denamarin, a probiotic and 1/2 a baby aspirin. He eats like a pig, plays like crazy, chases Bandita and takes all his meds tucked inside Peeps! krissn333
Bullitt! I was just telling my mom last night about how he takes his meds with Peeps (and was showing her his picture in the CG wall calendar) - her girl Goody is a picky med taker and after a recent dental where she lost 8 teeth, it was tough to get her meds into her. Mom giggled at the idea of giving her Peeps, but, now has that in her "arsenal" of stuff to try if Goody needs to be on meds again Quote Kristin in Moline, IL USA with Ozzie (MRL Crusin Clem), Clarice (Clarice McBones), Latte and Sage the IGs, and the kitties: Violet and Rose Lovingly Remembered: Sutra (Fliowa Sutra) 12/02/97-10/12/10, Pinky (Pick Me) 04/20/03-11/19/12, Fritz (Fritz Fire) 02/05/01 - 05/20/13, Ace (Fantastic Ace) 02/05/01 - 07/05/13, and Carrie (Takin the Crumbs) 05/08/99 - 09/04/13. TheFullHouse
Just received news from the vet that Bullitt's creatine ratio levels are almost normal! She expected them to go down but not like this! She said this is almost unheard of! I think we've received a miracle here! He'll be checked again at the end of next month.
