AnneGTS
How scary, Anne. Where is it on her leg? Could it have been a cut or a bug bite? Poor baby Spriet. It's on the inside of her right back leg. It could be an inflamed mammary gland (Spriet is not spayed). But that's not certain (the area is so swollen you can't really tell). We will have to wait to see if the anti biotics will do it's job. This morning it seemed to be little less swollen. When Spriet walks she's not so wobbly anymore, but now you can really notice she's limping with her right back leg. Overall she seems to feel a bit better. The vet called again and he said it should be a lot better within 3 to 5 days. He was a bit relieved it's not a hernia. The abscess is easier to treat than a hernia. Update.. An hour ago she we noticed some blood dripping down her right back leg. When we took a closer look we saw a huge abscess/inflammation. We immediatly went to the vet. Now it turns out is probably isnt a hernia at all. She's now on anti inflammation meds and extra pain killers. And antibiotics? Yes she's on antibiotics now, forgot to mention that. a_daerr
Good thoughts for Spriet! Abscesses can get really nasty. I had a cat almost die from one because the vet initially diagnosed a soft tissue injury. It was real easy to treat after we find out what it was. AnneGTS
Thanks everyone, i really appreciate your replies. I was so worried. It looks like she's feeling better. The last 4 days she didn't leave the living room (except to go to pee in the yard). But a few minutes ago I was in another room on the computer. Suddenly I hear her coming into the room, wagging her tail, just to say hi Edited November 7, 2012 by AnneGTS Quote Anne, Sasha & Tapas.
