Guest DoofBert Posted February 24, 2012 Share Posted February 24, 2012 Bacchus earned his wings today..... he went peacefully....in our arms. His body became weak and he lost considerable weight over the past weeks. Numerous falls..the pain meds were no longer helping. Bacchus was the daddeiman's boy and clearly left a big footprint in our hearts. We were only to keep him for the Fourth of July weekend in 2008....he was a bounce. Well, the weekend became a week and so on. He loved to be with people, but clearly preferred his daddiement. I was the 'kibble slave'. He demanded breakfast service promptly.... I had no more the 5 minutes after getting up to have the kibble ready....or else I was told. Bacchus's favorite place was the couch; however, because of leg weakness, he had not claimed the couch for months. I'll miss sharing it with him. It might not make sense to others, but to me but Fat Tuesday/Ash Wednesday is a sad but somehow appropriate and dear time for a dog named Bacchus to earn his wings. Again . I really believe that someday you will hear him again(ROW-that would have to be the perfect sign which he of course knows too). You will recognize it even if he uses another dog because you will recognize his energy-he will be with you always.
