So Shelby is back home on meds (Dexasone and Gabapetin) as the vet felt it was her back causing the problem and not her leg. I'm a little skeptical but he is right that she has a weak back-end and did suffer from an incident last Spring that caused her tremendous problems walking. He also did not feel the swelling was all that bad at the foot and did not have swelling anywhere else. My thoughts were perhaps she broke/cracked a bone in her foot possibly on the ice we have now due to the weather but he manipulated that foot a lot and she did not let out a peep. So hopefully in a way it is her back as we have been successful in the past in mending her. Right now I am carrying her outside as the berm off the back deck is slippery and this morning she did walk in the backyard even though she was very unstable and still favours that leg. I chose not to do x-rays yesterday after the diagnosis because if it is her back, it will only confirm what we saw on x-rays about a year ago. So it's wait and see this weekend and if it worsens this morning we'll get x-rays done. Thanks everyone for you well wishes, hopefully this tough little girl will recover as she has bounced back in the past.
