NancyB Posted August 30, 2011 Share Posted August 30, 2011 Yesterday, John and I took our last car ride with Ruby to Hamilton Pet Meadow, she passed away at home Sunday morning at 9:15. She had been sick last week, threw up Monday, didn't eat much Tuesday, then threw up bile 4 times during the night. Wednesday her vet gave her fluids, a shot of Cerenia and sent us home with Reglan. She still wouldn't eat so I syringe fed her for a few days, I knew late Saturday night, when she stopped drinking and kept wanting to be out in the storm (hurricane Irene) that she didn't have much time. Her vet said her kidneys failed (she had kidney disease and an enlarged spleen). We had Marvin for about two months when we requested a female greyhound from our adoption group. I thought we'd be waiting for a while but a couple of weeks later we were contacted about a female that was under two. We went to meet her with Marvin and Bear (our mix) on July 14, 2002. She was beautiful, full of energy and very happy. She fell in love with Marvin right away, she would always lay near him and put her head on him. He was shy and she gave him confidence and she needed him to feel safe, she would lay behind him during thunder storms. Ruby was a member of our family for nine years, she gave us happiness and love and it was a pleasure sharing our home with her. She was a good girl, John's Princess and she will be always loved and always missed. Rest in peace Ruby, you're with your Marvin and Ramm now.
