No one could predict what would happen and even if you had monitoring it may not have saved her. You loved her and that's all she cared about. When it is their time to go to heaven they go and nothing can stop it. "In whose hand is the life of every living thing.." Job 12:10 They KNOW how much you loved them and that it was out of your control. Sometimes I think particularly loving people sometimes get "used" so to speak, to provide for and love such angels whose time will ultimately be cut so short. I'm so sorry for such a tragedy as you have experienced. God bless you. You know she did! And she has some very special Angels taking good care of her, and your son's little pup.
