KingsMom Posted January 31, 2011 Author Share Posted January 31, 2011 First I want to say thank you to everyone who has prayed for our boy and us. He is very special to us. I believe the prayers are helping him get slowly better. We took King to the evet for a continuous bloody nose that didn't want to stop. We brought him home last night because he was stable but his nose was still bleeding. This morning we took him to the Internal Medicine specialist. They did a lot of testing and his clotting values are better but his blood pressure is too high. They sent off a tick panel which we have to wait 2-3 days for the results and a Von Willebrands test (a disease where the blood doesn't clot properly) but we have to wait 3-5 days for those results. It would be great if it is something as simple as babesia but I can only hope we are that lucky. If it isn't TBD or Von Willebrands we will have to do a CT or rhinoscopy or possibly both to look for the dreaded C. Unfortunately we have to wait for the Von Willebrands test because he has to go under general anesthesia for the CT and rhinoscopy and if he isn't clotting properly we aren't comfortable putting him under. The good news: They took chest x-rays that were clear which means that if it is cancer it hasn't spread to his chest. Also, for an unknown reason when we picked him up his nose has stopped bleeding. It has been 4 hours and it hasn't started again. We have him on doxycycline in case it is TBD and a med for lowering his blood pressure. They also recommended Afrin if his nose does start to bleed again. In the car he dripped his usual watery nose drips on me and I couldn't have been happier about it! I'll update if he gets worse (we really hope he doesn't) and then when we get test results back. I have to go to work tomorrow but will give a status as often as possible. I know the rules, here are some photos of my precious boy. Thank you all again, this journey will probably go at least through this week and maybe longer, we hope you will continue to keep him in your prayers. We are also going threw similar problems with our girl, Culture came back as Ralstonia pickettii which is a fungus . She has been taking Neosinephrin nose drops which helped some.
