Sound like you had given her your all and for that she was blessed. ETA: I just read your later post outlining her story. How sad for you and her. My heart was just bleeding and I am crying as I type this knowing how difficult your decision was. They are so beautifully stoic. The feeling of emptiness when you lose them is just overwhelming and there is a feeling like you have been punched in the stomach and can't even stand up straight from the pain. I have lost elderly four-legged companions - but Jack was the first young, unexpected loss and here I sit about six months later just leaking away when I read your story, because the pain is still so sharp. I just repeat the adage to myself that "it is better to have loved and lost than to have never loved"....because the joy they bring while they are with us is worth the pain we feel when we lose them. If I didn't believe that, I would not have opened my home and heart to new hounds. The pain is still staggering - but at least now their is laughter that I must have in order to be fair to the new boys who just want love. I hope that you can find some sense of peace in knowing that all decisions that you made for her were with her best interest at heart - and made with love. It sounds as if you did everything you could and I am sure she knew it. It's amazing how they hang on despite of a debilitating condition like Sasha's.
