Jenny, I just got your message, thank you so much. You made me feel better. I am hoping for Valley Fever, as bad as that sounds. And yes, Riley's bloodwork was normal when he had osteo, so it's possible. I'm so glad you guys will be here soon, so you can meet him in person! He is such a great dog, you are going to love him.

Btw, Puzzle and Jabari have decided he's pretty cool too :)

 Aww, what sweet pics, Lucy! I'm glad that the little guys have decided that Legs is an ok dude :thumbs-up

I will have a little iggy visitor sometime soon for a few weeks or so - I'm interested to see how Skimmie reacts. I hope he will enjoy a little playmate, but on the same token, I hope he doesn't enjoy it *too* much, I just can't afford another dog right now!

I haven't read through all the responses but I just wanted to let you know our "story". When we got Maggie back in November, she wasn't using one of her back legs much. Her fosterer said it had just started in the last few days (and when we had met her the week before, all four legs were fine). We went to our vet who took x-rays (negative) and tried all kinds of manipulations with nothing showing. We tried pred. No change (except she had to pee every 20 minutes). After several weeks, I asked the adoption group for suggestions. They referred me to the vet they use. Maggie's titers for VF were 2:1 (or is it 1:2?) Everyone else said that was nothing to worry about but the group's vet said he had seen dogs present with really low titers for VF who became worse over time. We decided to start her on Fluconazole. Vet said it would take two months to see improvement. Two months almost to the day she wasn't hopping anymore. She was rechecked after 6 months on meds and titers were still the same. He wants her on it for a year in total just to make sure. She has had no side effects (that I know of) from the meds and her leg problem has not recurred. Maggie was raised in a kennel here in AZ and also raced here (her GRAND total of 4 races) and as I'm sure you know, VF is not uncommon here.

Hope you get good news! :)

Ok, so there are some irregularities on his spine, but she wants to send the xrays to a specialist to get his opinion. So I will either hear back from him on Friday, or Monday. The hip joints look good. It is not LS, not arthritis. The rest of it went in one ear and out the other, but I will email her to get the details tonight.

I love my vet so much though, she had to sedate him to get one of the pictures, so she scaled his teeth and cut his nails for free! So now we just wait some more, and I will try to breathe...

Thanks everyone for the good wishes. Keep them coming.

Good news is that a lot of the bad stuff is ruled out.

Have you looked on the racing site (rosenet?) to see if anything shows up on that? Shanti fell in one race and had "muzzle off, much trouble" in another. That may enlighten to if there is a old race injury. I can't remember if he raced at all. Shanti pedigree site (can't remember the name of that one right now) shows no races, and the rosenet turned up 5. Might be worth a check. This is all the stuff I did when Shanti was a mystery. ;)
