  1. I am so very, very sorry, Pam :cry1
  2. we had to do a round of Dronal last year with Zeke as he's been on and off not eating for about 15 months now. He is very suspicious of anything you give him, won't eat much of anything, but damned if he didn't wolf down the drontal (powder) I added to 3 large balls of 88% ground beef. He wouldn't have eaten that at his regular meal time (just the beef) but for some reason he thought it was wonderful.... Go figure.
  3. his behavior screamed epilepsy to me as well :( Sounds like rage epilepsy we had a beautiful German Shorthaired Pointer that -- after it was too late -- we discovered this. We could have tried treating with meds had we known (or all the vets/behaviorists we went to ). https://www.whole-dog-journal.com/issues/7_6/features/Rage-Syndrome-In-Dogs_5639-1.html
  4. our first 2 slept with us but ONLY because they had ZERO sleep/startle issues. Our 3rd, Larry, is totally off limits when he's on his bed so he never sleeps with us (and stays on his bed) -- with Zeke, we let him up on our bed one morning a couple weeks after we got him to see how he was, and he too snapped when woken up so NOPE. He is actually in a large x-pen in our room only because Larry has the more severe issues and it's to protect Zeke from stumbling on him or whatever during the night. I TRULY TRULY TRULY miss having my pups in bed with me -- both were SUPER snugglers, Rainey would tuck her head under my chin/neck and it almost made me cry it was so sweet. if yours is snapping, no more bed, I totally agree. Having been bitten (my right ear lobe was bitten off) do not take a chance. Sorry
  5. I'm wondering, though, if the Irish muzzle's poop cup covers enough? Looking at it, I bet my angel poop eater Nube would be able to get as much as he wanted through the opening in the top.....the stool covers for the regular muzzles cover the entire front area completely... ?
  6. 3rd this suggestion you may not even need the padding, if she's only wearing it for a few minutes while going potty outside?
  7. we give our Larry a 20mg famotidine daily as he will vomit bile often if we didn't give it. We feed at 6:30am and again at about 4:30-5pm and I will give him a couple medium milkbones or other treats around 12pm-1pm just to keep something in his stomach. how often do you feed? when she's vomited has it been a while since she last had eaten something? also curious, why is there roots and dirt in her kennel? is she kept outside?
  8. we give Zeke a 1/2 dropper full once a day to help increase his appetite -- it seems to be helping, he is eating a little better than before. I haven't tried it with Larry yet, who is suffering pretty badly from LS - he's on 300mg gabapentin and 100 mg tramadol 3 x day and gets 3.75 mg Meloxicam each morning. what is your boy on the pain meds for? The Gaba does seem to help for Larry. He was on Rimadyl (from 10/16 to 5/17) but started developing bleeding in his stomach so we had to stop it and have been giving the Meloxicam since. It has less side effects and I really like it better. Zeke's CBD is a very good quality, from Super Snouts (300mg bottle) -- it's not cheap, though. One little bottle is $70. https://supersnoutshempcompany.com/products/
  9. what a lovely girl and so much love she got and gave :kiss2 I'm so sorry she had to leave but I am so glad she spent her last months with so much love. sending many hugs
  10. sending prayers! Glad the test results were good and hoping he's back to normal very quickly! :hope
  11. sending hugs -- he was such a special boy
  12. Vet Wrap - or its equivalent you can buy at Walgreens.
  13. sending more hugs. Like I said, we had the same thing with our Rainey -- suspected brain tumor. We had an MRI done on 10/4/10 (her 10th birthday, ironically) that showed nothing but the neurologist still suspected a tumor or lesion causing the seizures. we tried a variety of meds (phenobarbital, keppra, zonisamide and others) but for her only a combo of those first 3 helped control them at all. Unfortunately, the pheno made her big-time whacked out - but some of her behavior probably was from the lesion as well (she became OCD, aggressive, just weirded out in general). you very well might be able to control the seizures and keep her quality of life for quite a while -- some tumors are very slow growing. I would highly suggest keeping a seizure log -- date, time, length of seizure, stuff she'd eaten prior to it, etc. Also, some say this is an old wive's tale but we SWORE by it as do others - the ice pack on the back during a seizure. With Rainey, every single seizure occurred while eating or within 1 minute of eating so I would just pull out the ice pack prior to feeding so it was ready, which made it a little easier. Here's the link: http://www.canine-epilepsy-guardian-angels.com/icepack.htm good luck with your girl. I truly feel for you -- what we went through with Rainey was very hard and I miss her every day. Praying things go well for you all. Kim
  14. :( I am so sorry We went through this with our Rainey right before she turned 10. sending many, many prayers :hope
  15. I was just thinking the same thing when the poll results came up
  16. there's some good freeze dried out there (Primal and Northwest Naturals) -- we use them to just supplement Zeke when he won't eat his kibble or raw and as treats. They are expensive but for an Iggy not as bad as a 75# boy ( we couldn't afford to feed Zeke just that!). for raw, we use My Pet Carnivore -- it's fairly inexpensive and a good product. Also, I get Costco 88% ground beef ($3.15 # here) and their Butterball 93% ground turkey ($2.50? #) for Larry (he gets 90% kibble but I put in the raw as a "treat"). Zeke eats about 1/2 and 1/2 raw to kibble. Well, that's WHEN he eats... ETA I only get the FINE GROUND stuff from MPC, the coarse ground just has way too big of bone pieces in there. For the Primal, the bag costs about $30 for a 14 oz package (the big one) and the instructions are 4 nuggets for 10#, 8 for 20# (not sure how big your Iggy is) and guessing there's about 30? nuggets in the bag. Obviously if you are feeding other stuff (like the hamburger/turkey) you'd feed less and the bag would last longer
  17. Larry has LS and arthritis and Meloxicam seems to work well (he was on Rimadyl from about 6 months but then started with stomach issues so he's been on Meloxicam since last May). He also is on Gabepentin and Tramadol but more for the LS part.
