  1. I am so sorry How fortunate you were to have him for 14 years, but however long it is, they always leave too soon.
  2. I've heard about soaking sore toes and such in Epsom salts, but never done it. I know you dissolve the salts in warm water, but can anyone tell me the ratio? Thanks
  3. Poor Ms Bea! I think when Sallie broke her toe we splinted it for a couple of weeks, then kept it wrapped. The reason it was splinted at first was 1) it was a weight bearing toe and 2) she had another toe on that same foot that she had dislocated several times If not for that, we probably would have just wrapped it. I hope Bea and her toe heal well greyhounds and their toes
  4. I am glad you were able to give her that last happy weekend, but so sorry that she is gone now
  5. Yep, this. You can just watch it for now, and if you are lucky, it won't repeat, but odds are it will pop out again. I will say, after Sallie's was wrapped and rested it never dislocated again.
  6. I used NexGard for awhile, it seemed fine, but wasn't really tested, as far as I know they weren't exposed to any ticks. I switched because it is very hard, and Val has bad teeth, she doesn't like trying to chew anything really hard. I switched both dogs because it is easier I have no experience with Vectra
  7. this one will take a little more recovery time than the usual dental, glad it is out!
  8. I am so sorry that you are having to go through this I have lost two dogs to osteo, both with broken legs (we did not know they had osteo before the legs broke). One, through an initial misdiagnosis, I didn't let go for a few weeks, and it was one of the worst mistakes of my life. I am glad the gabapentin gave you and Nattie a little more time.
  9. The only natural ingredients that have proven, in scientific studies, to repel ticks are rose geranium (Pelargonium graveolens), palmarosa (Cymbagopogon martini motif), and Egyptian myrrh (Commiphora erythaea). The Egyptian myrrh is hard to get in this country, and other types of myrrh do not seem to be effective. That said, I like being as natural as possible, but I despise ticks and will use chemicals to kill the little bastids. I use the Soresto collars on my dogs. They are obviously not non toxic, but my vet has a client with severely compromised kidneys who can barely tolerate anything, and that dog has had no problems with the Soresto collar.
  10. Greyhuahua, said with Less Nessman pronunciation "grey-hooa-hooa"
  11. Wonderful update! Hopefully, that last sock was really the last one.
  12. Where is she getting these socks? Stealing them while you sleep? Ordering them from Amazon? I hope that was the last one!
  13. Val is a chewer, so most hiding techniques don't work. When she had to take antibiotics in capsules, I tried a pill popper, which worked great at first. After a few days, she started struggling more, so it was harder to be sure it was going far enough in, so I have switched to the old reliable "Pill in fingers, shove down throat". I haven't been giving a cookie after, should start that! Conner usually will take a pill pocket, but if he doesn't and I have to shove it down, he doesn't get his Velveeta cheese chaser
  14. I am so sorry, it is never easy, but to lose her so unexpectedly, what a shock
  15. I am so sorry! It doesn't matter if they have been with you a few months or many years, they always leave too soon
  16. I am so sorry, it still hurts to lose them even if they have only been with you a short time
  17. for Jane feeling better! I can understand your feelings, both how mad you were originally and now. I went through something similar with Sallie a few years ago. I hope in the end it is just bad snacking decisions on her part, and no permanent damage!
