  1. I've never heard of salmon in general being contaminated with mercury, and as for tuna, apparently it's only albacore tuna, which is the fanciest kind...do you think they are going to put that in dog food? Not likely. I would contact the manufacturer with your concerns and see what they have to say.
  2. We belong to the osteo club too, only our lab/pyr cross is the member. We're not going for amputation, just stereotactic radiation and chemo. In my readings I came across a few studies that indicated that infection at the amp site provoked an immune response that often prolonged survival time, sometimes greatly so! I hope Nell kicks the infection soon though. What a trooper! Both of your gals are lovely. Really enjoyed ALL of your videos (including the little engine that still could!).
  3. A lovely remembrance. Very sorry for the loss of your special girl.
  4. Best wishes for you and your boy - hope his procedure fixes things up.
  5. Such a beautiful picture capturing the bond between a person and her beloved canine.

I'm so sorry you lost your best boy, Deb. He was a lucky hound to end up with you and John. Margo
  7. So sorry you lost your handsome big boy.
  8. Bless you for saving their lives. I'm no expert, but it's not unusual for the first few days to be bumpy. They are stressed beyond belief. Hopefully they we begin to settle in to your schedule soon. I'm sure some other more experienced people we chime in to help you out.
  9. I can't speak to all of the questions you have raised since I've only had one grey myself, and when he came to us we already another dog (lab cross). He howled when we left him crated...it was loud and awful and I don't know how long it went on. It sounds like you do not crate yours. Some dogs like the crate as it makes them feel safe. Is there a crate she can retreat to? When we stopped crating him after a few weeks, he stopped. I work at home however. Our grey is very reserved - that's just how he is. If his tail wags a couple of inches, we know he is ecstatic. He hangs out in the bedroom, where we all sleep, instead of where we are. That's his "lair". He's not much of a toy guy either, except when he gets up before his breakfast. He only likes to chew real bones and pizzles, primed with cat food. Some dogs are the more "velcro" type. Maybe that's what you are looking for. It also can take them months (six?) or longer to settle in before they feel at home. Django really didn't show his silly side until we had him for 6 months. Good luck to you, what ever you decide!
  10. Nothing is too weird for us on Greytalk, well, nearly nothing...come on - post the video. My guy "face rubs" on the foot of the bed and my leg. Nice pic.
  11. You might want to let him rest his gut tonight and not feed him...then tomorrow feed him boiled rice and chicken as it's easy to digest.
  12. She's lovely! Close enough to greyhound for me. What's to be nervous about with the home visit - you are an experienced owner...
  13. I'm so shocked you have those in Canada in the winter! We only get ticks in the mountains early in the spring around here. Yikes!
  14. Knuckle bones - you must supervise and ensure she doesn't gnaw it down to a "swallowable" size. There are also different shaped rawhides that are not as susceptible to being dismantled.
  15. Very sorry to read this. I hope everything goes as well as possible. All good luck to you and Henry!
  16. He certainly has interesting ears!
  17. How was it received by your pack?
