  1. I wouldn't keep him on it indefinitely, especially for a cosmetic reason. Melatonin works on many systems in the body and I don't believe all of it's effects are fully understood. It's not just a "supplement".
  2. Greetings from Calgary Canada! I look forward to the pics...
  3. Such a beautiful girl. So sorry for your loss and the difficult time that brings.
  4. I'm no expert on this, but Django had some strange values when he was tested to enrol in the blood donor program - I was horrified - and had him retested by my regular vet shortly after, and everything was normal. Go figure.
  5. Ask for "knuckle bones" - I think they are the hip or knee bones in the leg. They seem to be a bit softer than the standard marrow bones, but dogs have to be watched with them, as there seems to be small pieces that come off. The job they do on their teeth is unbelievable!
  6. Best wishes to your handsome Potter. Hope he recovers soon.
  7. A very moving tribute to a special little dog. Run with the wind, Mercedes.
  8. What a beautiful urn - fitting for such a big personality. So sorry you lost your little girlie.
  9. Just thought I'd share a funny story - funny now anyway. My sweet ole' lab cross (who made it to almost 16) had LS and had absolutely no idea what her back end was doing near the end, and would often poop in her sleep. This story takes place when she wasn't quite that bad...We were at my Mum's lovely condo, 3 floors up, white rugs...you get the idea. So, when she woke up in the mornings during this visit, she was going to do her business rightawayquick so we had to get her outside as quickly as possible. She couldn't do the stairs anymore, so we had to do the elevator. We pile in and proceed down and to our horror, when the elevator doors opened, there was an extremely disapproving man in a suit waiting to get on. (Apparently we were supposed to use the stairwell, who knew?) We flew out and immediately realized it was not the ground floor...poor Babalu couldn't hold it any longer and lost it right there on the second floor. Truly that was a blessing because she would have let it rip in the elevator beside the elegant man...No mess was made, love those dry little poops, and no one was the wiser...don't tell anyone...
  10. Deb and John - my heart is with you in this terrible time. Godspeed Daisy.
  11. What a terrible story. Sending healing thoughts to Betty and YOU.
  12. I've enjoyed your pictures and stories of Treasure. So sorry for the loss of your precious girl.
  13. Bless you for trying to do the right thing. We can't foresee how things were going to turn out, but you had love in your heart and the best of intentions. Don't beat yourself up anymore.
  14. Squirt gun? Bet you will just have to do it once and then next time, just wave it around, and that will be the end of it. Love the pictures!!
  15. I'd go to the vet with little baggies of you know what. Perhaps a dose of the wonder drug Metro something or other will do the trick. Sure worked for my hound when he was in that condition, and he had DEADly farts to boot...
  16. So glad your handsome man is back in form! His particular recipe for weight loss is not to be recommended, however!
  17. She was well loved. So sorry you lost your precious girl. Heart breaking. Thinking of you and John tonight.
  18. Thank goodness it's only dirt he likes, excepting bunny poop - come on, who can resist that stuff? My mixed breed has the other Bad Habit, so I'm pretty swift with picking up...
  19. My grey Django has started eating mud recently, but only in a couple of places in the yard, under fruit trees. There had been rotten crab apples lying around in these areas but the fruit has long since disappeared. The melting ice covering these areas probably had traces of alcoholic rotten fruit and has permeated the soil. Is it possible he's after the lingering smell of the alcoholic fruit? Or is there something lacking in his diet? He's on a limited ingredient food, Wellness Turkey and Potato. He seemed to get an upset stomach after his dirt snack and was pacing in the night until I let him out, and of course, he had the trots. Anybody else's dog do this? Thoughts?
