  1. Went very smoothly. We went to a specialist as she had worked on our sick and old cats and they sailed through their extractions.
  2. Greetings! What a cutie. Very interesting markings.
  3. Best wishes for your boy. Sounds like he used the GSD appropriately! Gotta hurt like stink...
  4. So sorry you lost your lovely and talented Miss Sheana. I miss you too on our forum...
  5. So sorry you lost your spooky boy. Your tribute moved me greatly.
  6. We have Pet Secure here. I don't think that we have access to many of the companies that are mentioned above as they are American. Pet Secure paid up promptly when we had osteo in the house, but we were severely under underinsured. I had no idea what the cost for a serious illness was. Costs are higher in Canada for care and coverage. The osteo treatment was state of the art and ended up costing about $25,000, of which our insurance paid $5000...and it bought 9 months of life.
  7. Beautiful remembrance of your beautiful girl...so close to the big one-five. Godspeed Momma.
  8. Just sending good wishes for you and Cinnibuns...I truly hope it will resolve.
  9. I really enjoy your writing! Perhaps some day you would like to go on a exchange with a Banff park ranger and come up to Alberta and monitor wolves, elk, and some kind of tiny exotic tiny cave snails. Pack your long johns for the winter though!
  10. I don't know why anyone would impose human values on dogs. They are meant to be omnivores. I do love seeing them eat berries and vegetables off the vine!
  11. Very sorry to see you lost your old man. He sounds like he was a great character.
  12. No expert here... but I THINK the tape works because dogs sweat through their paws and it softens the area up. The corn seems to be of a harder material and kind of gets partially expelled because of the difference in texture...that's my notion anyway! I had to keep his boot on to keep it even more moist until I hulled it. It's still there but doesn't bother him after 3 months or so. I left it on for 3 weeks or so until it was raised above the pad and I deem it ready to be worked on.
  13. NOOOOOO! I am sick reading this. There was no other choice, as difficult and painful as it was. You gave him the gift of release. Both of you were loved.
  14. Greetings from Calgary! As a person raised in North Van, I envy your rainforest environment...and your mountain biking trails...Post some pics of your pack when you get a chance!
  15. He was very handsome. Very sorry you lost your blonde mandog.
  16. Greetings from a former Toronto escapee, pardon me, resident! I look forward to seeing some pictures when she arrives...
  17. Greetings from Cowtown! (Calgary Canada). Very pretty girl you have there. Look forward to your stories of a greyhound in NYC!
  18. Very sorry to see this. Hoping for the best possible outcome.
  19. We recently used the duct tape method, (with the cheap stuff) and it seemed to have worked to a degree. He hasn't limped since I hulled his corn. In our experience the tape has a tendency to come off, as they sweat through their paws, but it does soften the area up and the corn becomes obvious so it can be dug out gently. It did not lift off with the tape when it was removed. You cut a piece of tape the to just cover the corn, not the whole toe.
  20. Hi from a fellow Calgarian. That is a fantastic picture! I have no advice for the separation anxiety per se as I have not experienced it, but I will comment that a 1/2 hr walk is not a lot of exercise...I think the "couch potato" description has been over sold. There are quite a few people here in Calgary with advice for SA issues. They often come out to the Calgary Greyhound Walking Club get togethers, and you can check them out on Facebook, should you be interested.
  21. No advice...just wishing you some strength for the time ahead. Have you tried ice cream?
  22. Sending best wishes for a successful treatment for your Morty!
  23. We introduced the boots right before his dinner which was a major distraction. He initially kicked and bucked a bit, but tolerates them. I do have to chase him around the house to put them on still, after many hears of wearing them...
  24. Not sure what you mean by extreme cold. We often get -16F or -25C up here in Calgary or worse and they do not refuse to go out. I DO feel sorry for my poor men when they have a super long pee in the snow and cold. They limp back to the door. Can't comment about really deep snow however.
