  1. Gentle hugs to you and Burke on this difficult anniversary.
  2. I'm so sorry for your loss. What a terrible start to the new year.
  3. Thank you for remembering them Ducky. For all who have lost someone.
  4. I'm always afraid to read updates for this very reason. I am so sorry that he has taken a turn for the worse. Much love to your sweet boy.
  5. My thoughts have been with you and Brin. I hope you can find an answer soon to what is wrong with her, preferably one that is treatable.
  6. I am very sorry for your loss. It is hard to lose one at any time, but losing one so close to a holiday seems to compound that loss.
  7. I agree wholeheartedly with Krissy. I would have given anything to have not recouped a penny of the monthly premiums I paid out for Chase. Editing to add that it is important for people to realize how expensive pet health care can be and so should be ready with insurance. I will never have another pet without insurance. I convinced my mother to take out insurance on the new kitten she recently got.
  8. I think this is the best decision for the dog and most unselfish one on your part. Thank you for putting him ahead of what you would have liked.
  9. If he is draining his water bowl that many times, unless it is an extremely small bowl, there is something medically wrong. It is good that you are not withholding water. Is he the only pet that drinks from that water bowl? If so, I would measure how much you put in each day and then subtract what is left at the end of the day, so you know exactly how much he is drinking. This information will be helpful to the vet.
  10. I would have him checked for a UTI. Schedule or not that seems to be too many outs needed. I thought perhaps he just was interested in something outside, but when you posted that he will pee indoors if you don't let him out then he doesn't have the ability to hold it. I will add that being able to hold it overnight is different from the daytime.
  11. I lost my last two greyhounds in great part to this. In May of 2013 a large thrombus was discovered in the aortic trifurcation of my greyhound Nadir when he was brought to Auburn University's College of Veterinary Medicine because of long running unexplained urinary issues. I lost him in March of 2014 after going through diuresis for his kidneys. When I came to pick him up he was fighting to breathe. I do not know if the tech was careless during the diuresis and introduced an air bubble or if the diuresis caused a clot to migrate to his lungs. My last greyhound Chase was lost to a combination of Osteosarcoma and a large thrombus that was found by Auburn University during his initial examination in preparation for amputation and chemotherapy. The thrombus they found ran from the area of his pancreas to his knee. I was told that it was the largest single thrombus Auburn had seen. I decided then not to proceed with the amputation and let him go 2 days later. Looking back it is hard to say how much of Chase's pain was from the thrombus because it was clear from the x-rays of his leg that the osteosarcoma was very advanced when it was finally discovered . I can say though from my experience with Nadir that it can be extremely painful. He was on a cocktail of pain medications. I was also given syringes with butrenorphine to administer when the pain was at its worse. I hope your girl fairs better.
  12. That was a shame about Archer, but you made the best decision for him. I look forward to meeting your next hound.
  13. Welcome from Alabama. Your boy is beautiful.
  14. He was very lucky to have found his home with you. I'm sorry you didn't have more time together.
  15. I've been thinking of you and Tanzi this morning. I hope everything goes well.
  16. I am so very sorry for the loss of both your mother and Marco.
  17. Sending gentle hugs and healing thoughts to Iker.
  18. I am so very, very sorry for the diagnosis and your loss.
  19. Sending loads of calming thoughts and white light for Violet.
  20. I used Yunnan Baiyao with Bruiser after he was diagnosed with hemangiosarcoma to help limit the severity of the internal bleeding episodes he had. It worked very well for that.
  21. Seeing those pictures of her with your daughter makes my heart ache for the loss you are feeling. I'm so very sorry.
  22. Lauren, I am so sorry. I was so hoping you would have more time with Fenway when I first read this thread. You and Fenway will remain in my thoughts today.
