  1. I'm so sorry you lost your sweet Lizzie to this horrible disease.
  2. How is Miriam doing? How are you doing? Have you found out anything from the ultrasound? I do hope that whatever is or was found that it is treatable.
  3. I would try cutting back by a 1/4 cup in the morning and see if that has any effect on his weight or the amount he poops. If he maintains his weight, but poops less you're on the right track. As far as going by what is recommended on the bag remember dog food companies are trying to sell as much dog food as they can.
  4. Carol and Ryan I'm so sorry Macy's last moments were not peaceful ones. That unfortunately was the way it was for Chase too, so I know how very badly that hurts.
  5. I think he poops a lot because you feed him too much. My boy's weight fluctuated between 75 and 80 lbs and I fed him about 1-1/2 cups kibble. The increased amount of food will also cause loose stools. I would suggest two things, cut back on the amount of food and take him for longer walks. Don't be fooled into thinking he's empty whenever he poops the first time on his walk.
  6. I haven't posted in awhile, but I've been here every day riding this emotional rollercoaster with you all. Carol and Jen. my heart breaks knowing what you both face today. I'm sorry your vet couldn't come later Jen, I know how very precious each second is on a day like this.
  7. If there was anything in his records to suggest an allergy then I think most insurance companies would consider IBD as something related and not cover it. Was he ever tested for allergies? I'm curious as to what in his record suggested allergies. The best thing is to get insurance early before you have to take your pet to the vet for any reason other than the examination required by the insurance company. Once something is in their record then it is used as a basis for not paying for something. I had Healthy Paws for Chase and have to say that I am very happy with everything they covered for him, but to be honest for the next dog I hope to only pay the monthly premiums and never have to file a claim.
  8. Carol Ann and Dan, I am so sorry. Riley was one of the last few greys still around that were here when I first joined GT. It saddens me to know he is gone.
  9. I'm so sorry for your loss. Shadow was such a beautiful boy. I hope you and your DH find comfort in knowing you made his last hours happy ones.
  10. I wanted everyone to know that you are all in my thoughts. Jen, I am happy that you are able to have more time with Zuri and at the same time, Lori, I feel such a sadness for you and Miriam and your loss of Cecil and Roux. This thread is a tough place to be.
  11. Roux, I am so sorry that your precious Crouton is gone. Like you, the one thing that has helped me through the loss is knowing there is no more pain. Lori, I'm sorry that Cecil has not improved as you had hoped he would and now once again you find yourself having to face saying goodbye. Jen, I hope Zuri has many more happy days, weeks and months with you. Hugs to all.
  12. I've been sending them Jen, but I will send more. I hope the morning brings improvement. If I may say this and this is only looking in hindsight because I didn't know Chase had osteo until it was too late, the biggest mistake I made was not keeping him on a leash when I let him out to potty when I noticed how much pain he was in whenever he would come running back in. As much as we would like to see them run and play like normal healthy dogs, the truth is they aren't. The best we can hope to do is keep them hopefully calm and happy for as long as we can keep them comfortable.
  13. Thinking about you and Cecil right now, Lori.
  14. Lori, I'm thinking of you and Cecil this morning. Jen, so sorry to read of Zuri's setback.
  15. He was what you needed him to be.
  16. Saying goodbye is the hardest part of loving them. Lori, I am so sorry. I will be thinking of you and Cecil throughout today, but especially tomorrow.
  17. I'm glad that Cecil is doing well and that Zuri's toe is improving and he is doing better. I hope Zuri's Zolendrate treatment tomorrow brings added improvement. When is Cecil scheduled for his next treatment?
  18. I would like to echo that sentiment. I will follow your journey with Roux in the Osteo thread along with Neylasmom with Zuri and Cecil and his mom.
  19. Sunny was so beautiful and he gave you so many beautiful memories to treasure. Thank you for sharing them. You deserved a dog like him because he deserved someone like you.
  20. I'm so sorry about the diagnosis. I lost my boy last month to osteo. GT'er Neylasmom is currently using it for her Zuri. I'm sure she'll respond soon. I've bumped up the Osteo thread in which you can find a lot of good information and support.
  21. Bumping thread and hoping all are doing well.
