Tiger is all in favour of lying down for a rest while we are out and about. To be fair, not while we are actually walking, just when we stop for a coffee, or get on a train. He believes in taking up the maximum amount of space available, too - as here, on a recent group walk he was supposed to be helping me lead!

Clare with Tiger (Snapper Gar, b. 18/05/2015), and remembering Ken (Boomtown Ken, 01/05/2011-21/02/2020) and Doc (Barefoot Doctor, 20/08/2001-15/04/2015).

"It is also to be noted of every species, that the handsomest of each move best ... and beasts of the most elegant form, always excel in speed; of this, the horse and greyhound are beautiful examples."----Wiliam Hogarth, The Analysis of Beauty, 1753.

Just delete "and lie down" and you've got Doolin aka Dootunia. @Time4ANap

We had the "Petunia Pause."  I now present the "Doolin Delay."  Or the "Doolin Dilly Dally." :lol

Also the "LaVida Linger,"  "Mark Meander," and the "Rocket Respite."

Yes, this! I’ve had couple of greys like that. I tell them, you are sight hounds, not scent hounds! Did not help.

Whenever I was out with Facebook and Jagger for a ride and a walk, if we got stopped and it was more than 2 minutes, Facebook lays down, upright, and just "observes".

Jagger would lay down, roll over on his side, and fall asleep.

He would fall asleep anywhere.  In the middle of a store.  On a sidewalk.  In the street.  In someone's driveway.  In the road.

People would say, "Is he ok?"

"Sure, he's just resting".

Not sight hound related, but that brought back such sweet memories of my first dog-of-my-very-own, the inimitable Claire (Copper Clarion).  Claire was a miniature Long Haired  Dachshund.  She lived to be 17. She loved to go on long walks, but as she aged, she'd sometimes just stop and sit.  That was the signal for me to pick her up and carry her for a while.  After she'd had her rest, she'd finish the rest of the walk on own her little stubby legs.  :heart
