Guest OurGreytLife
I just don't know how to write this as I am in total shock and devastated. Yesterday my beloved cat, Cubby, suddenly took ill and we rushed him to the ER vet. X-rays showed cancer through his lungs. The doctor told us that cats can hide illness very well. Cubby never showed any symptoms of illness at all until he suddenly started foaming at the mouth. I've been a veterinary receptionist for over 20 years so I've always knew when something was amiss with any of my fur babies and caught illnesses early. But this is unreal. In one month I lost my kitty Blackie to liver disease, my dog Walter to degenerative disk disease, I just lost Joey a couple of days ago to Osteosarcoma and now this losing Cubby to cancer. I am trying to cope but this is now taking a physical toll on me. I have to try to stay strong and remember that I gave them all the best life possible. I guess I wanted to say that you folks here at Greytalk help grieving pet parents and people dealing with osteo more than you know. Thank you everyone for all your kindness you have shown me during these difficult weeks. Denise

dante2zoe
Denise, I am just so very sorry. I, too, have lost several within a couple months but nothing like you have experienced. Cats are amazing at hiding things. I had one that seemed just a little "off" so I took him in and he had advanced mouth cancer. That really threw me, too. One thing that did help me was to allow myself time (I actually set a timer) to just grieve without thinking I should be doing something else or whatever. It helped me. Hugs to you. FiveRoooooers
Much too much. Doing what you are doing, acknowledging that you gave all of your babies the best possible life, will help to bring you comfort. This site has been a tremendous source of comfort and support through the years for me (including letting two go on the same day). Too many here understand your grief. ramonaghan
Oh, my heart breaks for you. Cats are unbelievably good at hiding illness; I lost one to kidney disease and he was so stoic through the very end. Take care of yourself and do keep in mind what a good life you gave them all. queenwinniesmom
Wow, no wonder you are devastated. It's hard to comprehend having to deal with that many losses in such a short time. Please know that so many are thinking of you, wishing you strength, and sending sympathy. We understand the shock and actual physical ache a sudden loss brings. I've experienced it several times, and the only way I find any comfort is to be grateful that they didn't suffer with a long drawn out illness, and we were able to have quality time together until the very end. I'm so sorry you lost your precious Cubby.
