greg1229 Posted August 27, 2012 Share Posted August 27, 2012 Ever since the start of the year, Bijou has been losing weight. And her hind end has become less stable over the months. At almost 14 years old it may just be age. She now looks like one of those seized dogs from animal control. She still has that spark in her eyes and appetite. However over the last week and a half whatever goes in, comes out liquid. Called the vet and Wednesday afternoon I am taking her in to get bloodwork done and taking a "sample" in for testing as well. Being a desert dweller and all the dust storms we have had the last 4 months, I want to rule out Valley Fever (which I don;t think it is since she still will come hover over my dinner plate ) It's getting harder and harder to see her wasting away and I know I need to think with my head and not just my heart. She has been my baby for the last 12 years and I know that the inevitable is approaching. I just want to make sure it is age doing this and not some medical issue that we can fix. Burpdog Posted August 27, 2012 Share Posted August 27, 2012 Talk to your vet about worming her with panacur even if she doesn't show worms. As my alternative vet said: it calms the gut. Might be all she needs. I've also had to give some fiber at times. Metamucil will do. And acidolphilus (sp) pills.
