Guest Blitzkrieg Posted June 7, 2012 Share Posted June 7, 2012 (edited) today our beautiful Ruben crossed the bridge he has been with Fast Friends since Hinsdale closed and was well loved he just turned 12 in April racing name was You Have It kennel name was Haveit retired name was Ruben he was white/red with very soft fur and was quite a character Splishin Vallie & Giddyup Calamity where his sire and dam his gd page: http://www.greyhound....com/d?i=385271 the Hinsdale faithful who where there circa 2002-2006 surely remember him. he was a very quirky hound and a track favorite. he was Hinsdales fastest 3/8th hound in both 2003 & 2004 if he got the lead off the break nobody was catching him- he would blow the rest of the field away. if he didnt get the lead off the break he would drop way back and coast to 7th or 8th place. i still chuckle whenever i read some of the chartwriters comments on his GD page. here is one of his best races: [media=] [/media] a trainer kept him at Hinsdale as a "kennel pet" after he retired in 2006 until Hinsdale closed for good in 2008. but she could not take him home and so left him to Fast Friends. due to his age and not being cat or other dog safe he has been at FF since. he took a liking to me when i started working there last fall. i worked at Hinsdale and i truly think he remembered me. if he knew i was around he would start singing and he would often "talk" to me when i came over. i took him on many walks and sometimes he would want to go into the lobby. once there he would sometimes go to the rack of toys for sale to visitors and pick himself out one. today he was having trouble getting up and panting badly. he was brought the vet who saw a mass on xray and his temp was 106. he was brought to a bigger animal hopsital where they found it was his spleen and he had bad lesions on his spine. the vet said they could not operate and he was in pain. myself and 3 others from Fast Freinds where with him when he crossed over. godspeed You Have It Edited June 7, 2012 by Blitzkrieg Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Very much enjoyed the awesome race where he so clearly was in his element-FLYING across the earth. I know God was smiling over him then as He is now. We are extremely thankful that he was loved and had his friends at FF that were there to help him cross over. His brother Tilt was there to greet him I am sure, to help his passing be as peaceful as it could be. The boys are now reunited and I am sure ripping around snappin up those bunnies.
