Guest Jacks_Human
Hi everyone! I'm a ecologist/statistician from Glasgow (via California and a lot of other places ) 2 months ago I adopted was adopted by Jack, a 4-year-old Irish greyhound. He'd had an unhappy life, and wasn't very keen on humans, but when I went to the rescue kennels, ran straight up to me and tried to kiss my face through his muzzle, so I knew he wanted to take me home. Now I'm happy to say that now his only sources of angst are not being allowed in bed, not getting to drink out of my cup/eat off my plate (dramatic sighs ensue), or having me vacuum under his bed (which results in him trying to drag his toys and bed back into their proper place while the hoover is still running). If he's not playing fetch (yes, really!) or pestering me for food or cuddles, he's probably asleep, curled up with his stuffed animals and at least one stolen sock or shoe. JohnF
Hi, and welcome. Newly adopted Greys can tend to be hoarders. My Peggy - photo gallery here - started taking shoes, towels, tv remotes, placemats and even dismantled my electric razor, before undertaking artistic carpentry on my bed. You learn to dog-proof but evenually she grew out of it apart from shredding paper tissues. May you have many happy years together and share the highlights on here :-)

greyhoundlady
Congratulations on being adopted by Jack! I see he has already moved right into your heart! I think he is what is called 'Black Irish' Today, my grey who is also black, (although only Irish on St. Paddy's Day) wore his green St. Paddy's Day bandana and we referred to him as a Black Irishman. Guest Jacks_Human
Hi, and welcome. Newly adopted Greys can tend to be hoarders. My Peggy - photo gallery here - started taking shoes, towels, tv remotes, placemats and even dismantled my electric razor, before undertaking artistic carpentry on my bed. Jack did some 'creative carpentry' on the kitchen door a few weeks ago-- I'd popped out to get groceries, and he decided to investigate the kitchen (where he's not allowed) and got himself trapped by the inward opening door and made some lovely artistic scratches in his attempts to use the doorknob. By the way, Peggy is beautiful! And she looks like she's having lots of fun adventures. I, being of Irish/Scottish descent, know of such things! Best of luck with Jack - you are both very lucky! We actually successfully used this argument to get Jack to become the first (and only) canine member of my church's International Club.
