At the time we had 2 male greyhounds, Starlite Mercury and Moon. I was not looking to adopt another dog. 2 was just fine. We went to the adoption kennel that month to help with cleaning. My husband Dwight came along on this trip. Unbeknownst to me, while I was toiling away in the basement, he was falling in love with a little dark faced fawn female. I came upstairs to find him sitting on the living room floor with Tally's head on his leg. I tried to talk him out of it. But really how could I say no with her big doe eyes staring up at me? She was very pretty and seemed to be very gentle and intelligent. So we signed the adoption papers and home she came. It was not a mistake. She was the best little sister to the boys. And with Mercury passing just 5 months later it was a blessing to know Moon would not be alone. She loved to carry around a stuffed toy or chew rope. When we would come home, there she was toy in mouth, tail wagging. Though no longer dark faced at the end, she still had those huge doe eyes. Tally was always gracious and welcoming with all the other dogs and cats that have come and gone through our home since. And there have been many. She had a nice long comfortable life with us.
