RileysLegacy
I'm sorry that you are going through this.... Did they do both an aerobic and anerobic culture? If not, please make sure they culture again and do the anerobic one also. Also, are they doing bacterial antibiotic sensitivities or just assuming that a particular antibiotic will work? Yes they did both & also antibiotic sensitivities. I sent the results to a specialist this morning & am waiting back to hear if we are on the right course. tbhounds
Omg- sorry this is happening!! Have they considered MRSA??
3DogNite
Have you tried "serving" Silver Shield? i'd syringe it down to make sure it's ingested. doesn't have any taste, so should be easy enough and i'd put a colloidal silver cream topically too! and then i'd apply lots of Essential oils,, NOT ON THE OPEN WOUND, but close, where there is less hair,, so the oils can be absorbed very easily. because you have tried so many antibiotics here is a list of oils that help resolve resistant strains: Melrose, Melaleuca, oregano, geranium, clove, lemongrass, frankincense, helichrysum. (specifically from Young living essential oils) PM me if your interested. They really can help!!! Batmom
Hopefully the specialist will have some ideas for you. Sometimes you need to choose a different antibiotic from the culture report. RileysLegacy
Puzzle is going back to the vet yet again for this bite wound :( It's better than it was before the long course of abx, but still not healed. The vet mentioned finally putting in a drain, but I'm hoping it won't be necessary at this point. The only good thing about all this is that he doesn't seem to be in pain or feeling bad, despite all the drugs that have been in his system these last 4 months. He's a trooper. RileysLegacy
Puzzle will be having surgery on Monday :( My vet could feel a lot of puss still in his leg so she said it needs to be surgically cleaned out. I'm so upset. Please keep him in your thoughts. The only good thing is she will clean his teeth for free.

Newgreymom
Lucy, same thing happened to Daisy. During surgery he had to take a little extra skin out, flushed it, put a drain in and she healed up quickly. I wish I would have done it sooner, but I didn't want to put her through surgery. Well, it had to be done anyway.. She was 9 at the time. Prayers coming your way..

RileysLegacy
Thanks everyone. I had a terrible nightmare last night about things not going well on Monday I woke up & squeezed Puzz so tight, he jumped out of bed He sleeps with his head on my shoulder every night I know my vet will take good care of him, & this needs to be done. I just HATE putting him under anesthesia, it scares me so much. Lucy, same thing happened to Daisy.
