We had to usher our big goober, Bill, to the bridge this past thursday....it was really tough because we thought we had at least another 3+ years to have him around...cancer is what took him...I do have a question for anyone that has had to usher multiple g'hounds to the bridge...we have had to usher 5 of our hounds over the years and we have noticed a weird pattern with our furkids....has anyone else experienced the fawn or red hounds not living as long as other color hounds??? We have had 3 fawn g'hounds over the years and all have died before their 10th birthday...we had a "cowdoggie" that lived to be 15 and our tuxiegirl, Lylie is going strong at 13...I was just wondering if anyone else has seen similar patterns???

I'm so sorry for your loss. I don't know of any color related pattern.

It seems as though the evil cancer has no boundaries of who it will attack....sad.gif

I am very sorry for you loss. There is never enough time with them...

In answer to your question..I've lost 9 greyt pups. All different ages, different colors, different illnesses. Cancer being the predominant cause of death.

I'm so sorry for your loss

And like others said, it all varies. Ace was 9 when he passed of stomach cancer, he was brindle. Manny passed when he just turned 3 due to what we suspect a brain tumor (waiting for results from an autopsy), he was white and red brindle

I am very sorry for your loss of Bill. Cancer takes far too many. I do not believe it has any preferences.

Sorry for you loss :f_white

As far as your question, Margo was fawn, she was just 3 weeks short of 14 when she crossed. It was a stroke not C that got her

I am so sorry about your boy. Rest well, handsome boy.

As far as color goes, I can't help you there. I lost Lewis, a brindle, at 7 to OS.

I'm so sorry to hear of Bill's passing.

TO answer your question:

Topaz - w/b cowdoggie - age 5

Brindle - age 8

Pearl - w/b cowdoggie age 12

Diamond (sister to Pearl) black - age 12 passed 2 months after Pearl)

Onyx - black - 15.5

I know of a two little red girls both age 12. (one's in NJ and one's in MN)

Susie Q who was red lived to 20. She was chauffered around in her little rickshaw.

Genie was brindle and also made it to 20.
