If the vets suspect Cushings, but the test results don't support it, can he still begin treatment or would that be harmful? Treating for Cushings when in fact it isin't Cushings, would throw Warlock into an Addisonian crisis, something you do not want to happen. I have never heard of Cushings affecting the pancreas. Poor guy, I so hope they can figure out what is going on with him My vet explained Cushings and the pancreas...in layman terms any hormonal imbalance can trigger pancreatitis and a high percentage of dogs with Cushings also have diabetes, so yes, the pancreas is very much affected. AngelWhispers Posted September 29, 2009 Author Share Posted September 29, 2009 Warlock had a good night at home, and he'll be going back to the vet this morning for more fluids and IV antibiotics. He stayed dry all night, and was looking for something to eat this morning. I think the vet is going to offer him food today and see how he tolerates it. I gave him ice cubes thru the night so that he could get about 1/4 cup of water in him every hour and he did good. He has already done his yard patrol with a couple woofs to scare off any intruders who may be lurking in the woods, and the school bus will be here in about 40 min. Warlock made me smile this morning. I haven't heard back from OSU yet, hopefully today. Keep the good thoughts and prayers coming, it gives us strength. His bloodwork results are back and they're not good at all!! About the only thing working in his body are his kidneys. All his other organs are starting to fail. Dr. Martin has given up on OSU and has a call in to someone in CA for a consult. I should hear something in the next couple hours.
