  1. I'm so very sorry. Godspeed DaVid.
  2. I'm so very sorry. Your beautiful girl was much too young to have to leave. It's wonderful that Tricia was able to get such a lovely photo of her so recently. Godspeed Dazzle.
  3. I don't have much to add to the comments, but I did want to relay a little story: I brought home a retired broodie on October 1. She was 60 lbs, which is close to her "racing weight" (61 lbs). She looked like a sausage. A few weeks of walking later, she looked great. She still weighed 60 lbs. She apparently hadn't moved much in the few weeks before adoption--she was recovering from an emergency c-section and spay. Walking was enough to build up her butt muscles and tone up the rest, and the redistribution of the weight made her look much fitter. I recently noticed that she looked a bit thin. She was 58.2 lbs. I've increased her food slightly so that she gets back to 60 lbs.
  4. I'm so very sorry. There is no easy way to lose a friend, but that is an especially brutal way. Your gorgeous girl--those big eyes in a lovely white face--left much much too young and way too suddenly. You wrote a terrific tribute to her. Godspeed Cindy.
  5. I'm so very sorry. He was so fortunate that you were willing and able to welcome an old guy and give him 6 great months. Godspeed Geoff.
  6. I'm so very sorry. He was much too young. He also wasn't with you nearly long enough, but I know he enjoyed the time he had. Godspeed Junior.
  7. I'm so very sorry. It is clear from your tribute that he was an extraordinary boy. Godspeed Luka.
  8. I'm so very sorry. Your precious paper shredder left much too soon. Godspeed Shelby.
  9. Gosh, what a horrible result from a bite. I hope he heals quickly and well.
  10. I'm so very sorry. Your precious boy left too soon. Godspeed Sprinkles.
  11. I'm so very sorry. He chose well. I wish he could have stayed with you and his Daddiman longer. I hope you don't have any more losses for a long while. Godspeed Diego.
  12. I hope the new regime can keep him happy and playing with Face for a good while.
  13. I second the "constant supervision" opinion. You need to be able to see her at all times so that you can interrupt her--or better still, anticipate--and get her out. I prefer to use a crate when I can't be home or watching, but I realize that crate-training may be a whole 'nother project.
  14. I'm so very sorry. It's wonderful that you had 10 years together, but she left too soon. Godspeed Noelle.
  15. FWIW, I've had two with FCEs, and two cats with vestibular disease. All were sudden onset with gradual improvement. Another dog went from bad to worse (faster than your girl). It did not end well. We suspect it was a tumour. I hope something can be done for her.
  16. I'm so very sorry. What a horrible series of events. I too agree with Batmom--Leia probably fell because of her physical condition. It was not your wife's fault. I've had three dogs with similar symptoms, and all moved like drunks, sometimes far faster than was safe. Godspeed Leia.
  17. I've had a lot of dogs on Metacam for short or long (as in years) periods. One who could take it when she was younger couldn't after about age 12 (diarrhea), but all of the others have tolerated it well--even the IBD dog (she was given a stomach drug for safety). My vet says they see fewer issues with Metacam than Rimadyl. I gather any GI upset tends to occur relatively soon, but you would have to confirm that with your vet.
  18. I'm so very sorry. I remember his arrival. He was truly an extraordinary--and extraordinarily lucky--goof. It's incredibly sad that he didn't get to enjoy "the best day ever" for many many more Sundays. Godspeed Fenway.
