We had to make the hardest decision for our almost 11yo big, handsome, loving beast , Snap. He was diagnosed with Anaplasmosis 2weeks ago and treated with Doxy. First week showed good improvement. Second week things went downhill fast, most likely due to blood loss or cancer. Our Youngest greyhound, Snowee, took over his caregiving in the last week and told us he was ready. She was never more than a couple feet away from him. He was not physically in a place to do anymore exploring. We made the decision with our vet Monday morning.
He was 82 pounds of love with a HUGE prey drive (several wood chuck kills, turkey feather mouthfuls, and 2 close encounters with skunks. He also chased a deer through our yard and got a hold of its hock before it escaped over our fence.) He was FAST!
He loved his dog companions and everyone he met. He especially loved his vet, Dr Sarah Curry, who came in on her morning off to send him peacefully off.
He will be missed💔
