  1. We have a Coolaroo that come out of bulk trash. It was in excellent shape. It was Buck's favorite bed inside with a comforter tossed on it. Smaller Barkley and Maggie also loved/love it.. Outside I'd toss a cheap beach towel on it. Throw straw down in the mud tracks. You can straw at a lot of Ace Hardware stores.here. It will hold down the mud. https://www.chewy.com/coolaroo-steel-framed-elevated-pet/dp/53803

    I am so sorry Ducky.
  3. I am sorry for what you are going through. I, too. am a member of the "a day early" camp. My sister Let her Steviie suffer terribly waiting for him to die on his own. I think one of the best gifts we can give our four legged family members is release from pain, frustration and unhappiness. You have to be brave for them. Definitely cremate. Here it runs $110 plus $1 a pound.I have 6 boxes of cremins on a table in the living room. I buried my last Yorkie in Lubbock. When I sold the house Is showed the woman that bought it the bush that he was buried under, but I felt terrible for leaving him.. Since then everyone has been cremated and their ashes (or .at least most of each dog - I had some BIG boys) will be mixed with mine and the urn buried in the family plot. : :grouphug
  4. You cam order Ivermectin only tablets from Australia. I'll go out on a limb for using natural for fleas and ticks but not heartworm. I've been ordering from AU for 20+ years with no problems .Except in herding breed the dose of ivermectin for HW is so small it is a blip. It may be the other things making their tummies act up. Let us know what your vet says.
  5. I get very uneasy at the thought of "organic" heart worm preventative - especiallly in Florida. . Would love to know the active ingredient(s). we have been very please with Bravecto. Id does both and is once every 3 months. Of my six personal hounds and 100 or so fosters none has ever had a reaction to HW meds. One had an allergic reaction to Frontlinr Plus years ago but was fine with regular Frontline (which they probably don't make any more.
  6. Dogs can take one mg per pound so three for a 75 pound. They are much more tolerant to Beneryl than humans.Goodness - how many did she give him to be way too much?
  7. Natural Balance Fat Dog is 7.5% and their Reduced Calorie (was Ultra Light) is 8.0. Poodle did well for several years with his pancreatitis and diabetes on the Ultra Light.
  8. Yes, Dick I did. Brain fart. Will correct.
  9. the left ear is the litter number registered with the NGA. It's the same for every puppy in the litter. The right ear is month and year of birth. The letter has nothing to do with birth order, just the order in which the pup was picked up to be tattooed. For example Buddy was 56A - 57178. He was born in May 2006. Harley was 94D - 29043. He was born in September 1994. Tattoos do not include decade. Last I knew NGA tattoos were done the item shown above. You just switch out the letters on the plates for the letter. I Had a dog come through with his litter number in both ears and He was registered that way. Things can get hectic with a bunch of wiggly pups.
  10. I asked the vet if it vestibular syndrome or something else. She kept insisting his eyes told her it was a stroke. He just fell over and couldn't use one side. Dr Josh is my vet that may give you his two cents.
  11. No. I couldn't afford an MRI. He just woke up one morning and fell over on one side. The vet said she could tell it was a stroke by his eyes. He had a second milder stroke a couple of years later. Two strokes, pancreatitis and several years of diabetes. Those mini poodles from the K-Mart parking lot are tough.. Thoughts to you and Frankie. One of my vets was Dr.. Cuto's protege and dated his daughter. I don't think he'd charge you much if anything to pick his brain. PM me if you need his contact info. Dr Stack may also give her two cents for ...less than two cents.
  12. When Poodle had his stroke he was put on 1/2 a baby aspirin a day and did well. He weighed about 22 pounds.
  13. Never muzzle your dog unless all others are muzzled. I tried to be a dog park fan but none of my greys wanted anything to do with it. Buck would walk around and position himself under owners hands. Rex would stand at the double gate hoping someone would let him out. Then Poodle was almost disemboweled by 5 small dogs. Their owners went there daily and sat in a circle in lawn chairs. We walked over to to talk to a lady that had silken windhounds. Poodle was sitting at my side but to that pack he was an interloper and they went into him. I grabbed his collar and it came off. I had read somewhere to fall on them to protect them so I did. I was bitten about 10 times with Poodle biting my face lashing out in fear. I screamed at someone to call Dr Dunn and tell him we were coming. He literally blanched when we walked in as facial wounds bleed a lot. That was our last dog park trip.
  14. Do not listen to vets about Hills. I've addressed my views on that earlier in this thread. I flat out told my vet that I wasn't feeding Poodle peanut hulls or sawdust. They finally replaced "peanut hulls" on some labels with "cellulose". Many greys do bette on mid range foods.
  15. No smoked bones. Carrots are fine..whole baby or cut up. Watch pig ears as they have a lot of fat. There was a great company in Canada that used to sell ear strips. Beef tendons were a big hit here when I could source them down the street and less than bully sticks.
  16. Some people are afraid of dogs in general 25# Maggie has scared away solicitors and evangelists. Only grey people were generally scared of was Buck, who was black. I had kids say "run - it's a doberman". Oddly my first dog as an adult was a dobie and she the sweetest soul ever. White and red Buddy had quite a fan club. Mothers would come out to meet him as their kids had said so much about him.
  17. Redneck but it works. In the equine aisle. Do not bandage over it. https://www.tractorsupply.com/tsc/product/dr-naylor-blu-kote-aerosol-5-oz-1019855?cm_mmc=feed-_-GoogleShopping-_-Product-_-1019855&gclid=CjwKCAiAodTfBRBEEiwAa1hauux9p57gOazMapkUyTqlHElZBSRMN1Xq4GoyykVTo-xYSKOJ5N4tdRoCviAQAvD_BwE
  18. Rex hated booties. He had corns on all four feet. Sounds crazy but the only thing that worked was duct tape.
  19. Can you try baby gating him in the kitchen with the crate in there and the crate door open?
  20. : Of the responses above Chris, Irene and maybe Robin have been my secret Santa's over the years. Maybe we could just gift each other? .
