  1. It has been posted many places that most vets receive most of their nutrition training via courses sponsored by Hills. I won't touch it. They used to use peanut hulls as filler in their light/tarter control. Now it is just powdered cellulose which could be any plant fiber from cotton to sawdust. When Poodle became diabetic I flat out told my vet I would not feed w/d. I was not feeding these first seven ingredients: Whole Grain Wheat, Whole Grain Corn, Powdered Cellulose, Chicken Meal, Corn Gluten Meal, Whole Grain Sorghum, Soybean Mill Run.
  2. I have no love for the Cowboys - mostly because I detest Mr. Facelift. I think we'll root for the Rams.
  3. If it comes to needing Robin and her husband... http://www.thelexusproject.org/
  4. Twenty years ago I got one of those rolling balls and none of the 6 greys in the house would have anything to do with it. If they nosed it twice and nothing fell out they lost interest. However, they'd all happily follow Poodle down the hall sharing in his spoils as he shook the kibble out.
  5. Polar Vorex be darned. Ir will be 80 in North Texas Tuesday. 55 right now. Breaking out the shorts....
  6. Twenty years and never a problem. If you call and ask for free shipping they will do it. https://www.pets-megastore.com.au/
  7. Harley walked off the hauler from Bluffs in Iowa, cockroached and was settled in two minutes. Buck did the same when I brought him from Kansas,. My first greyhound, Little Girl, never settled. She was a bigger mental heath case than I am. My best advice is to don't sweat it and go about your business. A lot of GH people try too hard and are sort of dog helicopter parents. . Just live your life and the dog will figure it out and fit in.
  8. Remember when I bought raw chicken feet at Fiesta? The greys were walking around with them flapping out of the side of their mouths like Groucho Marx cigars. Never again.
  9. Expensive and none of mine ever had any interest in them. I almost bought Mags some dried duck feet yesterday. They were pretty creepy.
  10. Personally I have always found 3 the best number....and I believe conventional wisdom is that it takes 3 to make a pack, but don't quote me on that. As far as preferred walking that's hard to judge. If you have room in your heart and pocketbook for another go for it.
  11. Get the washable human ones. Personally, I have never found anything at Foster and Smith that I couldn't find cheaper elsewhere. Once I ordered from Foster and Smith and Australia on the same day. Australia arrived first.
  12. Me too. I've had an excellent VCA vet but their pricing is high and non nonnegotiable. Give me Tye dye Tuesday Dr. Joe any day... https://www.facebook.com/193834494021002/photos/a.365596753511441/2484842594920169/?type=3&eid=ARB5gsP4XNK3FLP2fPElcQ_2528rLop3148FYcFCuD4Dpp1-jOR9KYo96Zr3nKUARGoL0ClfZyYxELt_&__xts__%5B0%5D=68.ARBnmj4M6zTzaSuGuFuXGQNXA0fXc_GtOez3rL2Lu2OW3zdsZ7OV1G-lXJWe-jz4cizhuNC8mM1QiBPowMd7X8qCZKEmfDjwGZIDmcyzrEuPlFr3nC2zkA68crPMXgbZ8GPtP9QideagUqtpa7KCfaEdk720m_k7FGpKa1yx57DFA-lBNTSGzMJNf2f4pGNFkvrM9ChkEVIi4r_LhQxrm7EGQCZTRD-iuJJVRzwVhw-iNAOviyLibr_-Zz_gclG7T73QgUUKfruM6IT8D-sF94jYXrJkx8ZDOwcp5pBg2tL_6bJKymHejzZ8mNHVmz_f2cmt70XpvJbC_zDsCR7IBG9Vfeek_Qp0iYcF9b5WG40ojQ4ENm5q97kS&__tn__=EEHH-R

    yorkie

From the album: poo and greys

  15. Pulled every string I knew and my friend that knows every rescue peep in Dallas got Operation Kindness to take him on. He goes in the morning. Give them a shout out if you can. I've told him all night to be thankful he's little and cute as the dickens. It's like being a buxom blonde. Still mad at vet but I didn't get to choose him. https://www.operationkindness.org/#loaded
  16. I AM NOT going to let this "little man" (his call name ) hurt. I will call my vet and yorkie rescue in a couple of hours. Poor guy. I agree that he needs surgery. This will be my last lost dog soul rescue.. I just haven't slept in 10 days, Little Man was whining to go out which is why am I am up and crabby.
  17. There was a yorkie on Next Door advertised as "for free - have no time". I e-mailed a friend of mine that runs a non 501 © 3 rescue about him and she said "grab him he'll go in a minute". I grabbed him and he came peeing blood. She took him to her vet and he gave him Clavomox (sp). That was 10 days ago and nothing has happened. He has to pee blood every 2-3 hours. I told her he was drinking too much and she sad that she didn't have a lot of money to spend on this dog. So I went all the way to her vet. a week ago. He took x-rays (she paid for) and blood panel) (which I paid for). His RBC and and bun were high but not excessively so. He has a bladder stone somewhere between the size of a quarter and a poker chip. The doctor showed me one huge one. I had to buy a $40 bag of Royal Canin OS - which is probably a year's worth. When he goes to pee every 1-3 hours he struggles for 5 minutes. Tonight he had just been out and I heard him whining in the kitchen and went in to find the tsp. of bloody pee he forces out so I think he's in pain but that vet doesn't or doesn't care. He is breaking my heart (as well as me not sleeping for 10 days). A vet friend of mine said diet alone will not break up a stone that size.
  18. I am lucky that my newer vet that went to Ohio State and grew up at his father's knee would give them. They lasted 4-6 months. Oddly Rex was also my corn dog..all four feet. Wonder if the two things are related?
  19. http://www.greythealth.com/lumbosacral.html The depro shots worked wonders for Rex but newer vets won't give them.
  20. Welcome to sightghthounds. They are hard wired to work on their own. "Wait" or "stay" is the most important thing to teach in my book..
