  1. My cards are printed, addressing them is done, and they'll go out starting next week.
  2. I didn't get a DM. And I have changes from last year. All my fault. If there's a chance I can be added, whether in an additional DM to the group or if any of you see it here: Human Names in House - Ducky & Mac McComas Hound Names - Rita, Howie, NoAh, Lila (yes, NoAh is spelled with a capital A) Your Mailing Address (street, appt#, city, state, zip) - 112 Meadowview Court, Jacksonville, NC, 28546 Country - US
  3. Also let your husband and older children put his food bowl down. That will help him begin a connection to another human.
  4. What brand of food are you using? I agree with the suggestions to use Iams green bag or Purina Lamb & Rice. A friend swears by this additive: https://www.bernies.com/perfect-poop/#section-what-can-bernies-perfect-poop-help You'll need to do frequent hookworm testing. They can be sneaky and not always show up on a test. Here's the protocol for treating them: http://greyhoundcrossroads.com/index.php?page=resistant-hookworms
  5. Saying goodbye to the beautiful greyhounds and their friends who left us in November 2023. As you run with the wind send a caress to wipe our tears. Gone but never forgotten. Loved forever. Run free with those who have gone before you. Greet all those that will follow. Lexi Henry, the hedgemahog Jet, the kitty Timex, the kitty Connie Kruzan, with GreySave They'll always be with us, just slightly beyond the point that we can see with our eyes. In our heart, though, they'll be bright and clear, as they always were.
  6. Mark is thinking, the more houndies come into the house the more gotcha days and birthdays can be celebrated...which means more reasons for french fries and
  7. Oops! Not the reward the dogs were hoping for. They ain't into recycling?
  8. This is a recent article that may or may not apply to your situation. https://www.wormsandgermsblog.com/2023/10/articles/animals/dogs/do-all-dogs-with-diarrhea-need-antibiotics-spoiler-alert-hell-no/?fbclid=IwAR3tD5dgEhF2BsOZEDDEgirbBd_P2BtHjtpPw3NkukH0f7gxYSbRj7r-Iys
  9. Some questions: Have you changed her food recently? Has she been drinking water out of any ponds, puddles, rivers, or bird baths? Are you in the US? Then add the possibility of hookworms which can persist despite negative tests. What worming medicine did you give her? Over the counter or prescription? Are these known side effects listed on the worming medicine? How many days is it to be given, per the label? Did the September vet tests include checking for fecal parasites? White rice and tuna shouldn't be continued unless your vet checks her and okays it. Recent vet publications say to fast for a day, then return to the dog's normal food. You could try giving only *one dose* of GasX in pill form and checking to make sure it does not contain xylitol or sugar birch in it. She definitely needs to return to the vet. Even though she doesn't appear to be in distress, the pot bellied appearance + losing weight is very concerning. The pot belly could mean ascites (an indicator of liver disease) which could be determined by ultrasound or xray. She may need Cerenia and/or something prescribed to calm her intestines. Please keep us posted.
  10. I'm sure many of us have learned a lot about about Buddy's ups and downs, and it will certainly help other hounds in the future. You did all you could do for Buddy and more. I have added Buddy's name to the list of Bridge Angels on GT.

  12. You could crate or xpen your boy. If not, then both dogs should be muzzled. Sooner or later Ollie may lose patience with Roy and use her teeth. He is still transitioning from kennel life and is used to being around many dogs. Females seem to be pushier than boys, and boys are oblivious or subservient to them.
  13. I am so impressed with your vet and all the services done in one office. I'd have to drive in multiple directions to achieve. And I am so glad your vet listens to you. Be a good boy, Buddy, and keep eating.
  14. For easier dunk donut checking I have slipped each into a zippered open weave lingerie bag. Bag is long enough to have a closepin clip it to the rim. Easier to just pull up and see if it's time to replace rather than stirring up the muck.
  15. Has she been tested or retested for hookworms? They could contribute to the poop problem. For near-immeditate anxiety relief as your vet for Amitriptyline. After trying all anxiety meds, essential oils, CBD, and Adaptil products, only the Amitriptyline worked. And started working within hours. Prozac had been our second to last attempt and it made Howie much much worse. Ametrityline, per my vet, is generally used for arthritis pain (which he has) management, but has the additional benefit of easing anxiety. It is inexpensive, needs to be given every 12 hours and we've seen no side effects. While seeing my vet yesterday with a another dog she asked about Howie and said she is now recommending the Amitriptyline more often for similarly high anxiety dogs.
  16. Yup, vet check needed. Is he licking further up than just his feet? Is he chewing them at all? I've used Apoquel pills (Rx) and the Cytopoint injection(which can last several months), although at the same time. My new girl from Spain came with red, damaged paws. I've been using a leftover RX spray on her until we see the vet this afternoon. I'll let you know what my vet suggests for my Leela in case that can be a help for you.
  17. Good girl AnnIE! Teeth are overrated and we look forward to some derpy tongue photos.
