  1. Saying goodbye to the beautiful greyhounds and their friends who left us in October 2023. As you run with the wind send a caress to wipe our tears. Gone but never forgotten. Loved forever. Run free with those who have gone before you. Greet all those that will follow. Buddy They'll always be with us, just slightly beyond the point that we can see with our eyes. In our heart, though, they'll be bright and clear, as they always were.
  2. You could crate or xpen your boy. If not, then both dogs should be muzzled. Sooner or later Ollie may lose patience with Roy and use her teeth. He is still transitioning from kennel life and is used to being around many dogs. Females seem to be pushier than boys, and boys are oblivious or subservient to them.
  3. I am so impressed with your vet and all the services done in one office. I'd have to drive in multiple directions to achieve. And I am so glad your vet listens to you. Be a good boy, Buddy, and keep eating.
  4. For easier dunk donut checking I have slipped each into a zippered open weave lingerie bag. Bag is long enough to have a closepin clip it to the rim. Easier to just pull up and see if it's time to replace rather than stirring up the muck.
  5. Has she been tested or retested for hookworms? They could contribute to the poop problem. For near-immeditate anxiety relief as your vet for Amitriptyline. After trying all anxiety meds, essential oils, CBD, and Adaptil products, only the Amitriptyline worked. And started working within hours. Prozac had been our second to last attempt and it made Howie much much worse. Ametrityline, per my vet, is generally used for arthritis pain (which he has) management, but has the additional benefit of easing anxiety. It is inexpensive, needs to be given every 12 hours and we've seen no side effects. While seeing my vet yesterday with a another dog she asked about Howie and said she is now recommending the Amitriptyline more often for similarly high anxiety dogs.
  6. Yup, vet check needed. Is he licking further up than just his feet? Is he chewing them at all? I've used Apoquel pills (Rx) and the Cytopoint injection(which can last several months), although at the same time. My new girl from Spain came with red, damaged paws. I've been using a leftover RX spray on her until we see the vet this afternoon. I'll let you know what my vet suggests for my Leela in case that can be a help for you.
  7. Good girl AnnIE! Teeth are overrated and we look forward to some derpy tongue photos.
  8. Annie. We shall commence backnforfing in the tomorrow. What time is her appointment?
  9. Weekends are slow here but eventually someone will chime in with that info. I did have a gourmet chef friend with a greyhound. Her dog had some allergies and gastro upsets periodically so she started home cooking for her. This ended up being a big mistake, despite all her research to make it well balanced. Although her dog's symptoms seemed to improve, the actual lab test results were awful. She returned to commercial food with guidance from her vet.
  10. Jan, it's been a long while since 2 of my hounds had the procedure. The insertion was quick and painless once U/S targeted the bladder. No anesthesia is used. The needle is thin, not big like the blood drawing kind. It is the preferred way to collect urine for a culture. You should ask how long immediately prior to the appointment you should not let Punkin pee so that she'll have a full bladder. I don't have any answers to your other questions. In a sterile sample of cystocentesis, bacteria suggest that the bladder (cystitis) or the renal (pyelonephritis). By contrast, bacteriuria from free catch urine could be kidney, bladder, or lower genital tract infection; fecal contamination could also lead to iatrogenic bacteriuria.
  11. Greymike, What part of the country are you in and how cold does it get? There's several comments on the sizing chart for the outfit you're interested in. Both iggies and big non-greyhounds had complaints about the fit. I'd look for greyhound-specific coats. I was just going to suggest Irene with Houndtime. She makes both fleece and flannel coats. My greyhounds rarely needed a coat, hated fleece because of the static, but loved Houndtime's flannel coats. http://www.houndtime.com/?fbclid=IwAR0BtnX9gYJZW8snPHZBzp_FT74BWBjkUrWjPce0gLVTusEg8CHH1pYE4o4
  12. Thanks for posting those Chris. My cards (top row) haven't changed. I used Dr Stack's numbers and she hasn't updated any info. I think those GHI cards are the newer ones, but I'll doublecheck. Values between the both vary, just like at your vet's office, depending on the specific testing system/company used and whether it was done in-house or sent out. Beachbum1, between the two your vet get the gist of the value differences, greyhound vs other breeds.
  13. Those are definitely grounds for a repo. I'll be right up!
  14. If I am to present a lecture at Mountain Hounds next year I really need some faulty equipment for demonstrations. Do you have a defective leash clip? A collar that ripped or slid out of the size you'd adjusted? A harness product that surprised you by failing resulting in an escape or near escape of your greyhound? As an example, you're walking your dog and suddenly you realize they are no longer at the end of the leash. Although a photo of the bad equipment would be okay, I won't be doing any kind of slide show, although I might make printouts with the photos as handouts. Preferably I'd like to show that gear to the attendees at the lecture in person. Please dig through your gear for any that's given you trouble or malfunctioned and I will reimburse you for shipping any of it to me. You can also relay any gear failure stories here or message me.
