  1. I like how he uses his paw to recharge himself during naps.
  2. Such a handsome boy and wonderful that you and Clare got to meet. Re: the snoozing photo - it's good to see that he is a normal greyhound.
  3. I had greyhound who had worse poo when I added pure pumpkin, even when I cut it down to just a teaspoon. Some have had good success with the Owelo carrot product. https://olewousa.com/ Do you have a birdbath in your yard? Drinking from that was the cause of 3 of my dogs getting diarrhea at the same time.
  4. I didn't realize it either! I don't recall Casa de Postas ever having one there before. He's hard to photograph but he's dark chocolate/milk chocolate/caramel. With tiny chocolate eyes. It's knot believed that they are related to dobies or min pins although the color pattern is similar.
  5. One day is too soon to worry about this. Do you have a fenced yard? If so, leash walk her in the yard to go potty. A long leash may be more helpful within your fenced yard but do not use a flexi-lead retractable leash ever. No fenced yard? Then keep walks short and routine. She is going through a huge amount of changes in her life right now. If she doesn't each within 10 minutes of you being present (but not really really close to her, take her bowl up and try an hour later. Leave water down all the time but don't bring it to her. When she gives you a positive response to anything, give her a small treat. This link will take you to a resource page where you'll see several topics to help you. https://www.greyhoundfriends.com/adopt/resources/ Also read this free pdf download "Lost Greyhound Emergency" now and hope you never need it. https://www.greyhoundfriends.com/2022/06/lost-greyhound-booklet/
  6. I have a 2016 Chrysler Town & Country van, purchased used. No kids, just dogs. You'll need the middle row seats for your future kids but I love that they are stow-and-go (the seats, not the kids). Third row seats also stow down so you'd have a flat surface for the dogs. I purchased the van from a neighbor who was the used car manager/purchaser, so I can confidence that it wasn't a lemon. A few years later it did have some major issues: sliding door wouldn't completely close and a thingamajig connecting wiring for the heater/defrost melted. The newer Chrysler vans look sweet but have had problems too. My advice: Look up recall issues for whatever brand you are considering.
  7. NoAh, a Podenco Orito, joined my family in mid-March. He's a breath of fresh and lively young air in this house of oldsters. Casa de Postas near Seville, Spain took him in in January after his last owner dumped him and someone splashed him with acid. He is brave with humans but hates rain. Loves chasing skwirrels in the backyard but hates being leashed walked elsewhere. Also in the photos with him are Howie, the fuzzy Podengo from Portugal and Rita, the Podenco Maneta. We pronounce his name No-Ah because when calling out loudly both Howie and Rita thought we were correcting them for a misdeed. After listening to a video by the rescue group he could hear the humans pronounce his name as NoAh. I'm not crazy about the name but it's growing on me, and ever so slowly to him. This February we lost our 15th greyhound. Although we have always preferred to take in the oldest seniors who have been thrown away by their adopters, that does over time weigh heavy on the heart. I was told the NoAh was between 5-6, but oops, he's 3.
  8. Your dog your rules! Since you are not able to finally have a sit down talk with him all I can suggest is: - taping notes on any dog treat boxes - leaving the only treats your dogs can have when with him in a bowl on the table, again with a note - a pantry is off-limits sign - state in texts and printed notes that your instructions regarding treat limitations are from your vet because of medical dietary issues - instructions are for both Gelsey and Milo You've probably already thought of all those, but I hereby authorize you to growl at this dogwalker.
  9. There's no way I would give it to my dogs. This explains the Tylenol issue. https://www.petmd.com/dog/care/can-you-give-dog-tylenol
  10. Saying goodbye to the beautiful greyhounds and their friends who left us in April 2023. As you run with the wind send a caress to wipe our tears. Gone but never forgotten. Loved forever. Run free with those who have gone before you. Greet all those that will follow. Opal Zoe, the beagle Thelma, the guinea pig Knarl, the hedgehog They'll always be with us, just slightly beyond the point that we can see with our eyes. In our heart, though, they'll be bright and clear, as they always were.
  11. You can reach out to Dr Couto. Although based in the US he does online consults around the world. Your vet can send all lab reports and xrays. There is a fee. but it's worth it. coutovetconsultants@gmail.com https://www.coutovetconsultants.com/
  12. It's hard to tell from your photo, but is the bump a raised area and not a swelling of surrounding tissue? Histiocytomas come up very quickly, are benign, and go away without treatment within a few months. My greyhounds have had them appear on toes and muzzle. A fine needle biopsy might be enough to give you peace of mind for your girl. that's what I did for the one on her muzzle. Yes, it could be the bad thing, but waiting to see your regular vet would be okay to do. I did have one greyhound with a lingering growth near the nail bed that never responded to an antibiotic or cream. We had that toe amputated and biopsy said it was precancerous. She did fine without that toe. Amputation was a much easier option than just trying to remove the growth.
  13. As I understand it, dogs don't remember dates very well. It's when you forget their dinner that you're in big trouble.
  14. The Eisenhower is the only one that gives discounts for GIG. You must call to make your reservation as you won't get it if you book online. The Aspire is right next door to the Eisenhower but they do not allow dogs.
  15. This is the closest I could find. I don't know anything about the vendor of these 3 from In the Shop. https://www.intheshop2023.com/?product_id=51866956_47 https://www.intheshop2023.com/?product_id=51866955_56 https://www.intheshop2023.com/?product_id=51866988_41 Maybe the vendor of these could make the ears different? https://www.etsy.com/listing/1429926073/extremely-cute-hound-dolls-wearing-a?click_key=46d3f44b024acc5dd1b75b568ba2aeb90baf1e62%3A1429926073&click_sum=66a60eff&ref=shop_home_active_1&sca=1
  16. A temporary fix until you get a barrier is a carabiner. I keep one clipped to the front seat head rest and clip the leash to it.
  17. Has anyone found a lower price than Chewy? The 4 week dosing costs $155. Nancy, what was the dose for your horses? Howie gets .7ml
  18. Good question! When you want your hound off the couch just clip a leash to the collar, say "down", and reward with a small treat once he/she is off the couch. Guide to the dog bed and give another small treat when dog goes there. Limit treat giving "just because" so it will be more effective for behavior modification. Never just pull on collar to remove a hound from the couch. Since some sleep with their eyes open, always speak to your hound first. Great information on this page: https://www.greyhoundfriends.com/adopt/resources/ I wrote the New Adopters Guide. I also wrote the Lost Greyhound Emergency booklet. https://www.greyhoundfriends.com/2022/06/lost-greyhound-booklet/ Both of those will come as a free pdf download.
  19. I haven't done it but on old greyhounds who definitely can't tolerate a dental for a variety of reasons, and if the mouth is nasty, a friend's vet started her hound on "pulsed" antibiotics, meaning they were given every couple or every other month as a maintenance to ward off a big infection.
  20. So instead of "knit one pearl two", today it's "pet one pearl two."
  21. Thanks, Cindy. He did specify IM injections. I asked about "pinching" up some tissue and he said j, no just stick it in. I'll double check the package's instructions too.
