  1. Prayers for Punkin. We shall commence pacing backanforfbackanforf whilst we worry with you Jan.
  2. I wonder if #1 is sensing the hormones in #3 since I presume his neutering was recent. In what way is she bullying him? Shoving? Food aggression?
  3. And if not a pepper spray, use wasp spray. It squirts out a good distance so there is less chance of a blow back on you.
  4. Jan, has your friend thrown away that broken clip? I might be doing a talk at Mountain Hounds next year on collar and leash safety issues. That would be a great example to demonstrate what could go wrong on a walk. If your friends still has that broken clip I'd like to use it during the talk. If she's thrown it away already I'd like to use that photograph. To anyone else reading this, if you have something similar or a raggedy collar or leash clip that doesn't always work right, I'ld like to have it and will reimburse you for shipping.
  5. That video! My podenco maneto Howie exhibits pain when he first gets up from napping by panting/huff and puffing. He front legs are deformed by severe arthritis causing bone on bone grinding. When he rises to start walking he goes slow, doing what I call his "supermodel runway walk" crossing each front leg far across his chest and mincing his way along until he loosens up. Eventually he levels off and walks a little closer to normal. It pains my heart to watch him go through this. He's 12 and other than extreme fearfulness at times, he is healthy. We tried MSM/Chondroitin, Deramaxx, Gabapentin, Adequan injections, Robaxin, Tramadol, CBD (but not the brand Jan suggested), and other meds that I've forgotten with no success at all. Our last chance was with Meloxicam and the relief was immediately noticeable. So far no side effects and we do 6 month lab work to monitor. Howie's extreme fearfulness was becoming difficult to manage with meds. We finally tried Prozac and that made it much worse. My vet suggested Amitriptyline for this anxiety and it was a miracle worker! Despite the medication's description it started working immediately. As a bonus, it also helps with nerve pain. Combined with the Meloxicam Howie's walking improved further. Here's an excerpt from one study: A diagnosis of NeuP was presumed. A one month trial of gabapentin did not improve clinical signs. One month of amitriptyline produced an immediate and dramatic response until the owner stopped treatment having considered the dog to be cured. Signs recurred within 3 days and were controlled again by amitriptyline. Your vet will have to check if it will not clash with any other meds Buddy is taking, but I think it's worth a try. Inexpensive too.
  6. Smeared, whipped cream cheese in the bottom of the bowl. Makes 'em work to get to it.
  7. Ditto what greysmom said. Epsom salt soaks. PAWS rubber foot covers shouldn't be worn all day as they will hold moisture in. Not good. With my boy the vet finally had to use a pet safe glue for a cut between the toes since stitches and then a staple were tried. Ouch! I've heard some people have used Superglue, but that it burns so I never used it.
  8. Lauren, you tried so hard. Tessie was a very good girl with a fighting spirit like her mom.
  9. SSDD Same Skwirl Diff'frent Day and state!
  10. Jan, no mosquito dunks left in the buckets and it's been nearly 4 weeks since I put them out. Marking my calendar to do the change out every 3 weeks.
  11. How is the mosquito population there since setting up the buckets? Certainly less of them than usual. However, my neighbor has buckets just sitting outside full of rainwater I don't see him often and there's a language issue so
  12. Not quite a month since the Buckets of Doom were deployed. Jan, when you change yours out has the dunk disintegrated? The water in mine is too dark and mucky to tell. I have enough dunks left to reload with refresh cut grass and water. Just wondering if I can keep using the first dunks.
  13. Annie, look at you showing off! In a race those ponies wouldn't have stood a chance.
  14. For future reference: a Gelsey Tail Inhibitor to minimize her crime scene blood splatters masterpieces. http://greyhoundcrossroads.com/index.php?page=wrapping-happy-tail
  15. Saying goodbye to the beautiful greyhounds and their friends who left us in August 2023. As you run with the wind send a caress to wipe our tears. Gone but never forgotten. Loved forever. Run free with those who have gone before you. Greet all those that will follow. Richard the cat, snuggly boy and greyhound vexer Maddie (Oaks Mad Madina) Tessie Perrie, non-grey brother to Oakley, and lover of all greyhounds Kaia, Tricia and Burke's wolfhound/schnauzer girl Sammy Lucia They'll always be with us, just slightly beyond the point that we can see with our eyes. In our heart, though, they'll be bright and clear, as they always were.
  16. Joining in on Willa's backanforfing support team this morning. Willa and Rachel ---> <--- us.
  17. I've gotten the TA pills from both a Walmart pharmacy and Publix. I can't remember if they had to order it or if it was in stock. 650mg x every 8 hours. Do you have a Chinese medicine or market nearby? No Rx needed for this: Yunnan Baiyao Jianang capsules. I think I got these via Amazon. Rachel, I can text, email, or FB message you a photo of the box (mostly in Chinese) and the instructions (in English).
  18. He must be very mature since his choice of cologne wasn't AXE.
  19. What a fun girl she was for you. I will miss your stories of her antics but I imagine she and Rocket will be causing a ruckus over the Bridge.
  20. You'll likely get more responses if you post your question in the Food & Dietary fourm.
  21. On day 2 of Buckets of Doom I did not get mosquito bit when I went out to scoop poop. No breeze. Could it possibly have happened that fast?
  22. Jan, I have deployed 3 Buckets of Doom. I used the orange Home Depot ones but spray painted over there name. Ya know, just in case the lady mosquittets have a preference for Lowes instead.
