  1. I am so sorry, what a terrible shock for you! Losing a beloved hound is never easy, but to have it happen so unexpectedly is brutal
  2. I am so sorry. I could tell from your posts that Stewie was such a sweet boy, it is unfair that he left so soon.
  3. One thing occurred to me this morning on our walk. People who aren’t familiar with dogs see this large dog coming at them with an open mouth full of sharp teeth, while dog people just see a smiling dog
  4. Conner had acupuncture for the first time last week and she used the little cat needles on him. I think she left them in about 30 min. but she was ready to pull them out if he looked like he was getting antsy. I think when Fletcher used to get needled it was about 45 min.
  5. Conner tried them, we got the pumpkin flavor, I think. He liked them (big surprise there ) but I didn't notice much difference. I think the CBD oil I am giving him now has a much higher concentration.
  6. Yes, some people are just uncomfortable around large dogs, and large black dogs, a double whammy When we meet people on our walks I try to keep my dogs close to me until I can see how the people are going to react. I have to shorten Val’s leash or she would be jumping on them to lick their face Not even people who like dogs are always ok with that! I actually don’t mind, especially when people come to the door, if they are wary of the dogs.
  7. Conner gets laser treatments from his chiropractor and his regular vet. They do help his arthritic paw, his old injury paw, his wonky shoulder, and his back end weakness, so I am a big believer! I would say it is worth trying, even if it doesn’t help, it won’t hurt.
  8. Ellie will be waiting for her Daddyman
  9. something very similar happened with my Charley. I am so sorry
  10. What a great name for such a beautiful girl I am so sorry that she has to leave
  11. It really depends on the dog as well. You will see plenty of greyhounds happily playing in the snow without coats. Conner’s chiropractor used to live in Chicago and she said her greyhound rarely wore a coat until it dropped well below freezing. I would start with a light fleece and see how he does.
  12. I am so sorry, it must have been a terrible shock for you.
  13. I am so sorry for your loss. I know the regret, but I also know the guilt of waiting too long. Better to send him off on a good day than suffering and in pain.
  14. What a good girl Grace! Hope all her paw troubles are over
  15. I see (kinda) thanks for clarifying. All cancer is sneaky and evil, this seems a little sneakier
  16. Yeah, maybe you could explain further? Soft tissue osteo seems like an oxymoron to me? Not questioning your vets, just asking for more information. Glad to hear Bowie is so happy
  17. Frustrating to not have answers (yet), but at least some bad stuff has been ruled out. One of my old dogs had that “ more opacity” in the lungs. We never could find a reason and it didn’t affect her, my vet just figured it was an old dog thing. Hope that’s all it is for your sweet old man!
  18. "obsessed with grey poop" you will fit right in!
  19. Glad the bone is not involved! Maybe an infection of some sort? Let us know what you find out.
  20. There are many reasons a senior dog may start losing weight. A vet check should be your first step, it may be something simple and treatable. Conner, 13.5 yrs, was losing weight this spring, and my vet had me add digestive enzymes to his meals and add an extra small meal, he is fine now, but of course it could be something serious, so your vet needs to take a look at him.
  21. I have heard of people with greyhound service dogs, but, yeah, in my house, I am their servant
  22. Poor Boy! But I am sure he will feel much better with that nasty toe gone.
  23. Right after the dental the recovery from the anesthetic will affect their appetite as much or more than a sore mouth. That should wear off by the next day, but if you know your dog is slow to recover from the anesthesia, take that into account.
