  1. Congratulations! He's very handsome.
  2. That's lovely! Thanks for sharing!
  3. The Black Bandit approves of her protegee the Blonde Bandit's actions.
  4. Since he's mostly eating at night, it seems more likely it could be belly related. How old is Hobbs? Lila started having problems when she was 10 or 11 and could no longer handle things that she ate with no issues previously. I would just give one GasX pill after meals. It's a pretty safe medication, I don't think it could cause many problems. Just make sure it only contains Simethicone. I think there is a version of GasX that has something else in it. It can't hurt to try it. I hope this simple solution works for you. I know how hard it is to see them uncomfortable, and how hard it is to have interrupted sleep.
  5. When my Lila had these symptoms, it was belly pain or gas. Anything new in his diet? GasX was a big help for us.
  6. Awww, sweet old girl! Lila made it to 14.25 and those last few months were tough, probably more for me than her. She was on Previcox and Tylenol for pain and had issues with her back legs. I knew I didn’t want it to get to a horrible place for her so I was constantly assessing how she was doing. The best thing I did was work with a palliative care vet. I don’t know if those are common in the UK. Having a plan for end was important to me and to have someone who was able to come to my house for euthanasia. Making the decision of what is the right time is not easy. I think all you can do is put her needs before yours. Give Peggy a smooch from me.
  7. Wiki, the Black Bandit, is nine years old today! It is unusually warm here today, so she got a long walk and even wanted to do some sun bathing. She got many new toys. And a fancy biscuit. Those of you who warned me about getting a brood mama were right, she absolutely does not act her age. She makes me laugh every day even if it is due to Black Bandit antics.
  8. What a lovely pair! It's amazing how things just work out sometimes.
  9. Happy Gotcha, Sid! You know how to celebrate! He is such a handsome dog!
  10. Lila got kangaroo a couple times, but I think donkey is a new one.
  11. Happy birthday Mark! You have much less white on your face than Wiki, who will also be 9 in a couple weeks. In her defense, she's had four litters of puppies.
  12. The cure for this is a generous application of treats. Especially cheese.
  13. You are good people to take in the seniors in need.
  14. I'm so glad to see this! I was just wondering how Sweep was doing. She looks great! It is so strange to see green grass.
  15. That's a great series of pictures! It exactly tells the story.
  16. Regular diarrhea is not normal, something is wrong somewhere. Coming from Ireland, he probably doesn't have the hookworms that are so prevalent at US tracks, but I'd keep looking for the root cause.
  17. Yay for Poppy! I love that name. I'm sure the beagle sisters will come to trust you very soon.
  18. I'm so sorry. This has been such a rollercoaster for you. Enjoy lots of snuggles and good treats.
  19. I'm glad you were able to rule out any scary medical problems. Hopefully the strategic restriction will break his habits.
  20. Yes! And I live in the Frozen Tundra. My first greyhound, Lila, had very thick, plushy fur like a bunny and she was always warm. She wouldn't move with a coat on unless it was below zero. She would usually get out of her bed to stretch out on the floor to cool off. She would get cold feet from walking on snow, but that was the only issue for her. My current girl, Wiki, has sleek fur like a sea lion and doesn't run as warm as Lila. But she still pants on walks with a single layer fleece coat in temperatures in the teens.
  21. She is so cute! I'm glad she's feeling good.
  22. I'm glad the scare wasn't as bad as first thought. I hope she's home being spoiled soon!
  23. I'm so sorry you're facing this. Sending good thoughts that the procedure goes well and she has an easy recovery.
  24. Sending good thoughts for Sweep, and her people, for an uneventful recovery and many happy days to come.
