  1. I have a very food motivated dog, also. He’s learned to wait for treats. I don’t give him scraps or feed him when I’m eating. It’s up to me to make sure nothing is in reach, and that includes on top of the fridge. He’s not allowed in the kitchen when I’m there, either.
  2. I’m so sorry. I really enjoyed the pictures.
  3. I would start by having Cameron attached to you by the leash whenever you're home. That way you can really keep an eye on her and continue to encourage good behavior with treats as well as let her know what's unacceptable. Also go back to returning to the muzzle when you're not home.
  4. I’m so very sorry, Jan. I hope Bruno and Bosco are cuddling as I write this.

    Taylor

I really miss Taylor. Thanks for posting his pictures.
  6. Iker peed on my mom's bed once. My mom has never particularly liked him and I thought at the time that he sensed that. UTI testing was negative. I'm sure that's not happening with you, though. Nature's Miracle did a great job of getting out the smell and stain from both her mattress and her sheets.
  7. I wouldn’t bother. My guys have eaten much more than that without problems. This shows what a dog can safely eat http://www.dogownersdigest.com/news/library/chocolate-dog-poisoning.shtml
  8. Bums in face often. I think my guys want bum rubs when they do that.
  9. This website helped ease understand my formerly terrified dog. I suggest you check it out. http://fearfuldogs.com/
  10. I’m so very sad to read this. I loved Joe. He was so sweet. He’ll be missed by so many of us.
  11. Watch it. Us anti racing types are in the minority here
  12. I want to add that it took my Iker several years to adjust. I'm not by any means implying that will happen to you. I mention it that shyness or being timid does not mean that she might not be a good fit. That's just the way she is, and that's ok . You'll get to enjoy the added bonus of watching her change and become more confident over time. It has been such a pleasure watching my Iker come out of his shell and blossom into the somewhat confident guy that he is today. Check out this website. It help me to accept Iker for who he is and also helped me give him the tools that he needed to grow. http://fearfuldogs.com/
  13. Be patient. Let her come to you on her own terms. You can also feed her meals. I have a guy who is very afraid of men. I usually advise new people not to make eye contact with him and to let him come to them. And he does.
  14. You’ll like greyhounds. They’re like big cats.
  15. I’m so very sorry, Judy, Mike and Kevin. This has been such a tough time for you
  16. You can try leaving a TV or a radio on for her when nobody’s home. Might help with possible loneliness. Personally I only believe in crating if it’s for your dog’s safety, so I would ditch the crate. I’m sure there will be some who will disagree with this
  17. They’re used to having their own space. It’s best if you don’t approach her when she’s on her bed.
