  1. I am sure Wiki is acting with typical, not unexpected, non-aggressive greyhound behavior. Please don't take it for granted that the GSD's are also non-malevolent. The GSD's are doing it out of prey and territory drives and their own history. It is not happening because one is 'jealous' of the other. And its most likely that the owners will do NOTHING to correct the reactivity of the newest one that creates the dangerous situation. If the fence is as flimsy as you said I am surprised that they have not already breeched it and gone after Wiki. IDK of any solution short of building your own privacy fence. I don't mean to be negative but I am a K9 handler that handles the craziest dogs there are-malinois. I have learned to take their drives very seriously because when a malinois' switch flips on(and it can be triggered by ANYTHING) it is a very dangerous situation because their brain stops working. That means they may attack anyone they can get to-even the handler. Wiki would not stand a chance against 2 GSD's. Greyhounds may try to run away but they seldom are able to due to a lack of space and just plain fear. There was one sad story on here years ago about a greyhound owner who had rented a private play field as part of a special day of fun for her and her hound. Sadly some stupid person released another dog into the private field. It scared this particular greyhound so bad that he tried to run away as fast as he could to get away from the new dog. He ran straight into the fence, broke his neck and died. Our beloved hounds are no match for the riff raff reactive dogs. If you go out with her on a lead TBH you should take some kind of a EFFECTIIVE deterrent-maybe bear spray or a stun wand or club etc) with you to protect yourself as well because they may go after you also if they get to Wiki. Just wanted you to know that it is indeed a serious situation that probably needs to be addressed sooner rather than later. The GSD's will not 'get over it.' Actually they usually get worse. Another biggie to be aware of is that it is not uncommon for a dog that has been attacked to in turn become reactive itself after that. Many formerly trustworthy and laid back dogs have become dangerously reactive because once they survive an attack from another dog they then become aggressive themselves out of fear-usually for the rest of their lives. It is one of the reasons that people who let rogue dogs run loose are one of my pet peeves. There have been very loyal (and expensive) service dogs ruined and made jobless when they were attacked by some rogue while they were working in public and then themselves became dangerously aggressive
  2. Remembering that brings a lot more love to the holidays!!! God bless you! and Whiskey and Lily as well. They will never be forgotten.
  3. Thank you for your heartfelt post. In a lot of ways I feel the same. I miss hearing about Rocket and Lexie's flaming romance and marriage; seeing Lexie model such beautiful and amazing styles; Joe T. Reporter's reports!; the wisdom and exploits of George of New England and on and on SO MANY MORE. I remember all the greyhound festivals and sometimes the Greytalkers would meet up while there. They were truly the good old days. We even had the bestest custom greyhound hat maker-I think her name was Donna maybe. I still have her info at home with several of her beautiful creations. As they say 'those were the days!". Happy Thanksgiving to all humans and hounds. Treasure your houndies. They have become an even rarer treasure now.
  4. Thank you for reporting back on all the information you found. That was a lot of work! Thanks for sharing. I've got Healthy Paws still after several years because one of my dogs is almost 12 and I probably couldn't re-insure her anywhere else even though she is 100% healthy. And I figure if I split them up then losing the multipet discount would be significant. They are charging way to much for the 2 yoa Belgian Shepherd but I'm sure they are just taking advantage of my situation. For 3 dogs, 11, 7 yoa greyhound, and 2 years it is ~$350 month. Don't even want to think about how high it will go for next year with this inflation.
  5. I agree with everything above. Time, possibly journaling memories, and so on. Try to seek peace. They will be with you always. Like one of the posters above pointed out we all grieve differently and it is normal. I have found the biggest help for me is to lean on other dogs/the pack because they understand and somehow bring healing.
  6. For Fiona: Glad to hear you are doing so well pretty lady!
  7. She will be with you always. Happy Birfday at the bridge Sweetie

My heart is breaking for you. My deepest sympathy.
  9. So many messages in those faces! They're not holding anything back
  10. Awesome video! I love her reaction. She stopped; decided she didn't know what the heck; and then looked immediately to her handler for an answer on what to do next and how she should react. SMART girl! It comes from a good pack structure/training. She knows her handler is dependable and will always tell her what she should do and clearly feels very safe with him and is confident and happy relying on him.
  11. Another example of how greyhounds are so greyt! They are smart cookies and wiser than a lot of peeps.
  12. He looks much younger than 12 1/2! He is young at heart for sure.
  13. She is so beautiful!!!!!!! and that collar just elevates her to royalty level!
  14. Yes I have adopted hounds) with amputated toes. TBH I am glad to see they are amputated when I adopt them because that tells me there won't be any issues or problems with a bad toe. So many thing can go 'wrong' with a greyhound toe and it seems the majority of the time it is a chronic problem-to include pain/discomfort to the dog/until it is amputated. Then they are well and pain free. And BTW Aggie was 11 years old when I adopted her with her weight bearing rear toe amputated. It seems like most of the time that people try to avoid it they wind up having to get the problem toe amputated anyway. I have no problems whatever with one that is amputated if possible and would not hesitate to have one amputated to clear a chronic painful condition that wouldn't otherwise.
