Kitty negotiations are ongoing.  But any family would be lucky to have her!

I even if Pavi doesn’t work out, because of kitty issues, Doolin clearly needs a bossy lady to tell him what to do :lol

Fortunately I have a wealth of experience in that area. :D

You may not be toast but Doolin certainly is.

I hope Pavi learns to leave Tootie alone and she gets to stay. :goodluck

I think I smell toast burning!!!  ;)

Andi is totally jealous of Doolin catching a squirrel!!!  She's been drag racing all over the yard trying to catch the stupid ones on the ground.  <_<  And I'm pretty sure that's what's gotten Felicity all out of whack a couple times this last week.  <_<

I know, she's just a baby. And only off the track two months, so these suckers must have popped up quickly, assuming they're the result of switching from sand to sidewalks and streets. :dunno

Quite possibly. Two of my broodies (Kat and Opal) arrived with terrible corns, but they hurt a lot more once they had to walk on pavement and concrete. I thought Toodles also had corns everywhere, but it was pad overgrowth. The corns (not as many as the other two) appeared later.

No toast here, alas. After making good progress over the past several days, Pavi went after Tootie again this morning. She's back with her original foster now. We're sad, but the amount of drool on the floor made clear she was not just curious or playing. She's a great dog and would be perfect for a first-timer without a cat. Doolin will console himself with ice cream, as one does after a breakup.

Having lived with a cat-zapper and cats--think armed camp--I completely understand and support your decision. I know Pavi will soon find a cat-free home, Doolin will find a girl, and Tootie will be safer and happier.

I salute you! We had to keep Tootie and Richard separated for the first year(?) or so because he would ambush her in her litter box. (Part of why he was such a good dog trainer; he was a big bully cat.) It was stressful, but at least I never worried about a real tragedy. That is some serious stress.

I think it's harder to keep cats apart. :eek

Cal (the Grey in question) was over 10 1/2 when she came home and not in the best of health. (She'd had a litter years earlier. I don't know what happened after that--maybe she was a kennel/farm pet.)  I couldn't face taking her back to the adoption kennel. So the cats lived upstairs when she wasn't crated and had freedom overnight and when I was out. There were three baby gates on the stairs because even though Cal couldn't do stairs properly, she would fling herself up and into any obstacles. Cal was here for over 3 years--she made it to a week shy of 14--and was fairly cat-agnostic during her last few months, but I never did trust her enough to remove the safety procedures.

I'm not sure the cats agreed. :lol

Cal wasn't safe around any small animals or other dogs, but she was great with me and with the other resident doggos*, so she stayed. (*She did poke one of the then-resident poodles on the introductory walk. She was ignored and decided the woolly dogs were okay.)

  • 1 month later...

Doolin has another guest! This is Misty (Arroyo Misty). She will be here at least until Monday. She has explored the house and done her business and is now resting after her beeg day. She is just a baby, having turned 2 in August.

54056052224_57e07908a0_z.jpg

Misty has the same foster mom as Pavi, who is being sat upon by my parents in their cat-free home. (Why yes, I did guilt-trip them into watching her since she would've had to stay in a kennel otherwise. :angel) Pavi knew us right away when we picked up the girls; she jumped and wagged and leaned. Man, I sure wish she wasn't a cat zapper. I was definitely going to be toast otherwise.

Misty is a timid, sweet girl and the group feels pretty certain she will be safe with Tootie. For now Tootie is staying upstairs, no doubt shooting stink-eyes down to us.
