Cleburne Is Home!

I traveled to Cross Lanes, WV this morning to meet the hauler from Abilene. Flying Cleburne came off the truck and I was instantly in love! This girl has acted like she belongs here, took to the pack well and the pack took her as an elder. She loves my 3 yo skin child also :) She is a litter mate to the All American Flying Bridgeport. She herself competed in over 130 races and finished 2nd in a stakes race where she lost to the famous Flying Stanley. She has whelped 34 puppies and her latest litter was whelped in September 2013. That is when I saw her picture and the posting about her retiring. After a few weeks and me looking at her over and over I told them I would take her! So the ball was put in motion and last week I found out she would be able to make this haul. I have never had a brood before, but so far I am totally loving it, and her!

This is her on the way home, poor baby rode 19 hours out of 24 to get to me

"It came to me that every time I lose a dog they take a piece of my heart with them. And every new dog who comes into my life, gifts me with a piece of their heart. If I live long enough, all the components of my heart will be dog, and I will become as generous and loving as they are." -- Unknown

Congratulations. I was wondering where do you go on the internet to look for broodies? I am interested in a certain one and hope someone?? will let me know when she can be adopted. I do have a contact at the farm where she is, but he told me it would be a couple of years before she would be available. So I am wondering if certain kennels post their broodies for adoption or if there is a rescue group that may specialize in broodies?. Thanks for any info you can share.

Thank you! I have a friend who posts available broods on Facebook. None of the farms actually post them to my knowledge. If you have a specific brood in mind and know where she is, just keep in touch with the farm. As long as they know you are interested it shouldn't be an issue. Most broods end up being mainstreamed into adoption, I know of several who have come through the group. Cleburne is almost 9, and had her last litter in September.
