Guest NQ3X
Please keep our dear Melody in your thoughts today. Two days ago she was diagnosed. Films of her lungs came back pretty clear, so she's going in today to have the affected foreleg amputated. We hope we're getting it before it metastasized. This is the second hound of ours to develop osteosarcoma. At least we think we caught this early enough to effectively treat it; Leopold was too far gone at diagnosis and was dead three weeks later. I want my sweet Mei-Mei to live forever. I don't want anyone cutting on her. I don't want her to be in pain. I want to punch the universe in the throat. So please pull for her. She's a fighter, but she needs all the help she can get for this. Thank you.

racindog
Thinking positive thougths and praying for your sweet baby. When Ivy had her front leg amputated she was home in 4 days and jumped in bed that night as she always did without fanfare! She healed quickly and resumed going for her walkies immediately and was running(flying) again within 3 weeks.

Guest NQ3X
We spent some time at the beach yesterday. She had fun jogging around and dancing in the surf. I don't know how to size the images in IP Board; sorry they're so large.

MaryJane
Good luck today. The first three weeks or so are the toughest .. gets better after that. Has the vet discussed using Amicar after the surgery to control bleeding - I believe that OSU uses it as part of their protocol now (you can contact them and check). Guest NQ3X
Just back from visiting the post-op Melody, who was panting and in pain but too drugged up to be anything other than a lump on a blanket. Dr House of Island Animal Clinic is optimistic that she's on the road to recovery and doing well. The rotten bone has been biopsied and the biopsy sent off for analysis. The wonderful staff at IAC will be watching her closely overnight. We'll be back tomorrow to visit and maybe bring her home, though that's not set in stone. Thank you thank you THANK YOU ALL for your positive waves and support. Please keep it coming, as we're not totally out of the woods yet.
