kronckew Posted March 30, 2013 Share Posted March 30, 2013 (edited) Millie has crossed over the bridge today. she had a fall going down the stairs thurs noon. and couldn't stand on her left leg. the vet came by & examined her, initially thinking she'd sprained something, so she's been on tramadol but hadn't got any better, her leg started swelling this morning & looked bruised. called the vet out and he took her for an xray. she had a ragged fracture just below the hip joint, but it was due to a bone tumor weakening the bone. at almost 13 she wasn't a candidate for amputation, her remaining leg was weakening as well. he said she'd probably had metastatsis elsewhere. as she was already sedated i let him send her over the bridge to a pain free field where she can chase rabbit and squirrels with Blue until i join them. she was a good girl, gentle and loving. i miss her terribly already. she was also a darn good racer in her youth.
