Omg I Almost Just Killed Larry! :(

Recommended Posts

Oh. My. God. My heart is STILL racing. Larry went out to potty and he always gets a cookie when he comes back in. I gave him a piece of this dehydrated lamb lung (Texas Hold 'Em brand, from Pet Supplies Plus) and I should have broken it in half. It was big but not overly so, or so I thought.

he goes to eat it and all of a sudden he is FRANTICALLY pawing at his mouth and grimacing horribly! At first I thought maybe it had just gotten lodged up near his gum (Nube had a cookie do that and I had to go in and pull it down) but in seconds I realized he was CHOKING TO DEATH!!! I screamed for Bruce to come running and I tried unsuccessfully 2 times to reach down his throat to get it out! He was literally dying in front of us! I tried one more time (didn't even think of the Heimlich move) and I was able to make him retch and out the whole piece popped :( :(

he's ok now, hopefully the piece didn't cut up his throat any :( His knuckles are scraped up a little bit, guessing from his teeth when he was frantically clawing there :(

yikes. We almost lost our little boy :( :(

Thank you, Lord, for letting us keep our little boy. :hope

Very, very scary! Glad he's ok. Time for an adult beverage. I had a horse choke once--was not fun. He choked on his pellets--we both panicked-I ended up just punching him as hard as I could in the throat-thankfully, the food dislodged and he was ok. Scary stuff.

I so feel your pain! My whippet choked like that once, too. I have no idea how he managed to do it, but my 21 year old son managed to reach his big hand down Indy's throat and pull the food back out. I don't know which one of us was more freaked by the incident, Indy or me!

I am so glad that Larry is ok.
